This is Lacy. #a1882047 her people apparently had a housing issue… had to give her up. She did not do well at our shelter. She was recently red listed for euthanasia. Very few of us attempted to take her out. She was tight. Fearful. Defensive. Reactive. Snapped. Growled. Hid. Shut down. ••• When I saw this young family putting their hands in a cage… I did a triple take after scolding them to keep their hands out. When I realized it was Lacy‘s cage. I instantly knew this had to be her family. ••• She was 180° different. An instant amazing transformation. ••• They had come to get her. Their housing situation had been fixed. ••• I’m just happy she’s out. Wasn’t put down. And it was very apparent they care very much for this dog. And the dog only trusted them. No matter what I did. I could never have earned that dog’s trust in that environment. ••• The shelters are not great places for animals. It is incredibly stressful. Many of them stress out and become completely different dogs which can lead to their early death. Please. Pets are forever. Love them forever.
