01.Lenores house
I've just bought a house at auction, it was cheap as chips and no one seemed to want it. They said it's a bit of a fixer upper and still contains the last tenant's furniture and a few belongings.
All I know is that the last tenant was a woman who had lived there her whole life. Apparently she was born in the living room and died in the kitchen, her body found by a welfare officer, called by her neighbours, who said she was a bit of a recluse but they always saw her in the front garden most days. They got worried when a few days became more than a few weeks since they last saw her.
At first I was surprised it wasn't more difficult to bid on. It's a three bedroom detached house with a front and back garden located in a small town, with little to no crime. I heard alot of other biders saying it wasn't worth the effort to fix and joking about it being haunted. The auction house obviously assumed they'd get more interest from mentioning the houses history, but lucky for me it turned most off.
Now I'm not worried about it being haunted, I plan to maybe plant a rose bush or a small tree in the front garden, a way to pay my respects to the woman who's house I now own. But I can now understand why nobody wanted it and why it was selling for so little. Not everyone is keen on the idea of buying a home that takes more money to fix than to buy and possibly has a past tenant that might never leave and most likely wants you out.
I'm visiting it tomorrow, so I'll see what state it's in and maybe introduce myself to the neighbours.
