I feel like a deaf human or a blind human would be a great candidate to for this role.

The mer knows of this disability of theirs and takes more responsibility and care over the human (maybe too much care).

If the human is deaf, the mer lets them feel the deep vocalizations they make. Holding them close to their throat or chest to feel the hum or purr they might make, vibrating the little human.

If the human is blind, the mer constantly guides them everywhere they go when they’re at sea for an odd reason. Always wandering what their eyes look like or used to look like (maybe their eyes faded? 🤷‍♀️). And having free will to stare at them all googly eyed, without the human knowing or feeling freaked out by it.

Ooooh both are good! I went with the second option.

When Letho says that he thinks women should be in charge, he’s not being facetious or anything– he actually does believe they make better rulers. 

This is in part owing to the fact that he was raised by his adoptive sisters, and although he doesn’t remember their voices or faces– and sometimes he’s not sure he remembers their names correctly either– he remembers how brave they were. How capable and clever and resourceful. He also remembers that they were kind and compassionate, enough so to take in an orphaned baby when the oldest of them was not even a teenager yet. And while he remembers all this, he also recalls how the men in his life when he was still a child (senior witchers, the head of the Viper school, any semblance of a father figure he might have had) had been nothing but cruel. Some plain cruel, while others were also utterly incompetent. 

Context: Halfa!Jason Todd, ghosts communicate through emotions, liminals can do it to a lesser extent

Jason unknowingly keeps trying to push emotions to his family, not realizing he’s trying to communicate. With his family’s awkward outward reactions combined with the lack of response to his core, he feels isolated. Even thought it’s an accident on both ends, it has an effect on him.

To make it a bit worse, the batfam is liminal with all the death in the family and Lazarus exposure. They accidentally reject the emotional conversation from Jason’s core, so neither party knows why Jason is so on edge, but they don’t push for answers.

Danny (bad reveal, good reveal, literally Just Vibing in Gotham—whatever works) hears Damian’s core humming or trying to trill/chirp, and of course he has to help the sick liminal/baby-halfa core. With a LOT of bonding, Danny gets Damian to drink some healthy ectoplasm, and he feels a lot better. He even brings Jason over, knowing the connection to the Pit was stronger in his older brother and wanting to extend an olive branch after the… everything.
