Here at Allure HQ, we are unabashed suckers for a holiday-themed hair moment. Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter — you name it — it never gets old witnessing what colorists and stylists can do when they're hit with some holiday inspiration. Of course, Independence Day is no exception. Scrolling through Instagram explore, we stumbled upon a Fourth of July hair look so good we had to talk about it immediately.
The look in question, which features icy-white hair styled in an intricate crown braid and blue and red accents woven throughout, comes courtesy of Rhode Island-based hairstylist, Alexandra Wilson. Her specialties are bridal hair and braids, so it's natural that she would come up with this sort of look. "I wanted to do something fun and Fourth of July-inspired so I added in some blue and red extensions. I also knew I wanted to do a three-stand infinity braid, which is the braid on the bottom, as it shows off the colors so beautifully," Wilson tells Allure over email.
Wilson also kindly included what products she used to create the look in the caption of her post. For instance, she used Hair Talk's extensions for the red and blue pieces, Biolage's Frizz Control Styling Spray before braiding, plus Design Me Hair's Gloss.ME for extra shine. Don't want to damage your hair by dyeing it? Take a cue from Wilson and use colorful hair extensions instead.
Of course, we aren't the only ones in love with this look. The post has already amassed nearly 3,000 likes and it's been up for less than 24 hours — plus, tons of folks are leaving positive comments like, "Ooh yes! Love this so much," "This is so creative ❤️❤️," and "Wow amazing ????????????."
All this to say: If you love experimenting with new styles and challenging yourself to try complex braids, then you should 100 percent try this look or a version like it for the holiday festivities tomorrow. Happy Fourth, y'all!
