What worked for you best of the three studios you used? "I only sang one song in Abbey Road — "It's Getting Better Man" — and I weren't ready for it. You've got to wait for the cloud to disappear. It's no use singing while the cloud is there, and there was a bit of a cloud there, so I couldn't really get it together. I couldn't be arsed basically, it weren't the right moment. When I got to Ridge Farms, it weren't the right moment either. When we got to Air Studios, it all kicked in. I don't prepare for it. I just drink a load of lager, smoke a lot of cigarettes and talk a load of bullshit — and it sort of goes where it goes."

As soon as Noel comes on with the cry of "Never going down", and launches into Swamp Song you know this is going to be great. Finally Liam saunters on to cheers of adoration and the night begins in earnest. Acquiesce, Supersonic, Hello, Some Might Say and Roll With It rush past in a haze of arms and legs, the pace is like lightning. Liam walks over to the side of the stage and smiles, comes back to the mic and lets us in on his source of amusement "This must be what it's like in heaven".

Liam: "You can have loads and loads and loads and loads of bands about, an' if there's no personalities then it doesn't mean jack shit. You can have loads and loads of booze on the table, if it's not alcoholic, it's rubbish. You can have a load of cigarettes on the table, but if they don't give you fookin' cancer, they're shit."
