I’m having one of those weeks where things didn’t exactly start off great, but are now moving into the realm of greatness. I received an email “callback” to interview at USC (University of Southern California), for their  PhD program in Neuroscience. While I must confess that this isn’t really my number one program/ the one I was most excited about, it does have a number of benefits to it (and it also has a fairly high acceptance rate, so I’m feeling quite confident about my chances of actually being admitted). I was so discouraged/ scared about my first rejection email, that I was afraid I’d just get rejections across the board and so it’s an incredible relief (at the very least) to get this invite to interview. I also now have quite a bit of work to do in order to prepare for the interview (look up proper Grad School interview etiquette, ask my PhD friends about what to say/ what not to say, read more details about the program itself, etc.) 

While it does suck that the school isn’t exactly “local” to me (it’s in Southern California), it is still in the same state, so I’m not a hideously long plane-ride away from home, and I do have family in the area if I ever need assistance with anything.
