Is there an established name or acronym for an agency or PI business that investigates magic crimes and murders? For example either a magic version of a Homicide division, or on the more federal scale, a agency that investigates demon summonings/does arrests for them? I want to have a character that becomes the magical equivalent of a detective.
This AU spans an indefinite amount of years, numerous rebirths of civilization, and every country imaginable.
So you could make your own agency, and it wouldn’t be breaking core canon! Chances are, there are a TON of different ones out there among different societies and years.

This question's answer is likely to be spoilery, but i'm curious anyway; where do our different species of ""monster"" come from? We've got Humans who evolved on earth and Spirits evolved on Atheri, but where does everything else come from? Is it that all these creatures also evolved separately on the same planet but with analogous sentience, magic, etc? Is the answer ALIENS?? (like, their ancestors are from different universe/worlds?) Will we ever know, or is it a mystery lost to time?
It’s not spoilery! It’s just not well-studied in-universe--as I mention in the Bestiary post, not much about monsters is. We do know that most of the monsters that humans have myths about have always been on Earth, because the spirits have records of that from their great war. Probably they evolved alongside humans, that doesn’t sound that weird to me if you take convergent evolution into account.
There is a notion that monster cognition used to be much different long ago, and that while advanced it worked in a much different way to human and spirit cognitions, and that these differences are part of why Aetheri ended up warring with Earth monsters--an inability to communicate across this cognitive gap. However, monsters have spent a long time now in society more or less with humans, and brains in general are incredibly plastic. Monsters being so psychologically analogous to humans may not be an evolutionary trait so much as a result of many thousands of years of society. This theory is supported by the fact that if you start going outside the local neighborhood of universes to worlds where monsters maybe don’t live so deeply entwined with humans, the two groups are much less ‘like’ each other.
All that said, there has historically been a lot of movement of individual types of monsters from one world to others, but not usually en masse enough to establish a new population. There are two known exceptions: one of them has maybe gone extinct by now (hard to say) and the other is that there is in fact a small population of spirits established on Earth that has been around since the great war--these guys broke off from Aetherian forces sometime back in the mists of time and are now as much an Earth creature as anything else.
