“Eddie! Eddie! Can you hear me?” Your voice was frantic, strained.
It had taken all your strength to pull Eddie out of the water and onto the lake shore. You had found him down in the wreckage, his shirt caught on a jagged piece of glass from the car window.
Fear gripped every inch of your heart as you realized he still wasn't moving. Your brain spun. How long had he been drowning in the water?
A minute? Maybe more?
Fast-paced situations that pushed adrenaline into your brain were no stranger, but this was different.
One second, the two of you were freeing a driver from their vehicle underwater, and the next, you were realizing he hadn't followed you out.
You should have checked before swimming out with the driver and getting them to safety.
You were simply so used to trusting that Eddie was always behind you.
You never had to question it, the same way you didn't question the sun rising in the morning.
It was a certainty.
Now, you may lose that forever, and you would never forgive yourself for that.
You pushed those thoughts away and tried to focus.
Your body moved on memory alone, your attention fixated on helping the man who mattered most to you in the world.
The sight of him was grim.
Eddie Diaz was unresponsive, pale, and his pulse felt dangerously faint.
Tears ran down your cheeks as your entire body trembled. Why did this have to happen?
The two of you had done hundreds of underwater rescues. It was probably routine at this point. You had ingrained the steps into your minds.
Yet this time, something had gone very wrong.
You desperately tried to calm your breathing, knowing if you didn't, the consequences would be dire for Eddie.
Your eyes narrowed as you noticed his chest wasn't rising, and his pulse was no longer weak. It was gone. Eddie was fading fast, and you couldn’t let that happen.
There was no hesitation.
You immediately put a hand on Eddie’s forehead and tilted his head back before lifting his chin.
After that, you pinched his nose shut and sealed your mouth against his, giving five breaths. You waited, watching him anxiously in hopes he would respond.
He didn't.
Putting your hands at the center of his chest with your arms locked, you pushed hard and started compressions. For every thirty compressions, you gave him two breaths.
You repeated your actions over and over, desperately hoping to see Eddie’s eyes open or hear him breathing.
It felt like you had been watching his chest endlessly for any change, but after a moment, you saw it.
Eddie’s chest began rising at the same time that he let out a loud gasp, followed by several harsh, water-filled coughs.
It took him a minute to calm down and be able to talk. Eddie's chest heaved up and down, his body still tense.
Now that you knew he would be okay, exhaustion was hitting you hard. The adrenaline rush was coming down and leaving your body feeling heavy.
“W-What… in… the world,” Eddie groaned, his brown eyes wide and confused.
Relief flooded your stomach as the dread that had built up dissipated.
He was back!
“It’s okay, Eddie. It’s going to be okay,” you whispered, brushing a strand of hair out of his face.
It took a few minutes, but eventually he could calm down enough to register what was happening.
“I remember now… I was ready to swim back up, but I felt something pulling me back. I couldn’t reach it.”
“I’m so sorry. I came back for you as soon as I realized, but I should have noticed sooner—”
“Hey,” Eddie said, interrupting you with furrowed brows. “Did you save the driver?”
“Well, yeah.”
“Then you did your job. Don’t apologize for that.”
You let out a sigh. Eddie was the epitome of noble.
“Of course you would see it like that. I also called dispatch to send another unit for you.”
Eddie shook his head and began to sit up. You reached out and grabbed his hand for support.
Neither of you let go.
“You didn’t have to do that. I’m fine,” he muttered, his gaze on your intertwined fingers.
“Eddie. You’re going to get checked out.”
“Fine, only because you already called.”
He knew better than to argue with you.
You nodded. “I’m sure you’ll be fine, but you know Cap would want you to play it safe.”
“Mmm,” Eddie said, pausing a second before breaking into a grin. “So, you got to kiss me, huh?”
Fuck. You had really been trying not to think about that right now.
“Hush,” you said, hitting his shoulder softly as heat flared beneath your cheeks.
Eddie winked at you. “Can I at least be conscious next time?”
This was hardly the first time Eddie had flirted with you, and since he had almost drowned and all, you figured it was time to stop beating around the bush.
“Well, we’ll see. I probably owe you a drink or two for leaving you behind.”
“I’ll take it,” Eddie murmured, squeezing your hand gently.
The two of you leaned against each other as the sounds of sirens and flashing lights reflected against the water.

♡ Note: WOW!! Posting something for the first time since September, who am I! :D Just a little something that was supposed to be for 911ReaderWeek Day 5. Hopefully I can get back to posting :))
A yawn left your lips as you stepped out of Buck’s bedroom, sleepily putting your hair into a quick bun before hurrying down the hallway. It was a half-hour till seven, and you had to be out the door for an early shift at the hospital.
All you’d had time for this morning was a quick shower before shuffling into your scrubs. You would be cutting it close as Buck’s apartment was further than from your place, but spending the night with him was always worth the impending rush.
The sweet smell of coffee and cinnamon rolls swirled in the air as you entered the kitchen, a smile crossing your face at the sight of your handsome boyfriend taking fresh pastries out of the oven.
You let your eyes linger for a second on him, taking in his neatly ironed navy uniform that fit him just right. It wasn’t something you were used to, someone up early with you cooking breakfast and happy to see you.
“Morning baby,” you called out, walking over and wrapping your arms around his torso from behind.
“Morning darling,” Buck replied, happily as he placed the tray atop the oven before placing his hands over yours and squeezing gently. “I was just about to go make sure you were up. Sleep well?”
“Not really, someone kept me up all night,” you teased, leaning up to place a kiss on the side of his neck.
Buck chuckled at that, a cheeky grin on your face as he turned around in your embrace as he said, “Hmm, did they give you a good time at least?”
You purse your lips, pretending to think about it for a second.
“Amazing actually. I’m hoping tonight is just the same.”
“Oh trust me it will be, or maybe even better,” he promised, his voice full of love and lust.
You both smiled as your lips met in a sweet passionate kiss, your love for each other all-consuming.
A few minutes passed off the two of you standing in others arms, kissing and being sweet to each other before you remembered you needed to be out the door already.
“Shit, sorry, I’m going to be late if I don’t go now,” you swore, pulling away from him a bit and glancing at the clock on the stove.
“All good sweetheart, but at least take a cinnamon bun before you go,” Buck said as he let you go and turned back to the tray of pastries.
He grabbed one and wrapped it in a paper towel quickly before handing it to you and placing one final kiss on your forehead.
Adoration and fondness at his sweet actions swirled in you as you took it and before you knew it, three little words were spilling out of you.
“I love you.”
The meaningful phrase, though something you and Buck had yet to say to each other, was subconscious.
You hadn’t been able to help it though, as truth be told you’d wanted to say it for quite a while and so it just happened.
It took you a second longer than your now frozen boyfriend to realize what you’d said, and as your eyes met, you gasped.
“Oh — I didn’t mean to say that, well I did mean it, but that wasn’t exactly how I wanted to tell you, though I did want to, I mean…” You trailed off, stumbling over your own words as you frantically thought of what to do and what he must be thinking.
What if he didn’t want to say it back? What if you’d just ruined things? God, this was the happiest relationship of your life, you even suspected he might be the one, and here you were dropping the ‘I love you’ bomb at six in the morning.
Thankfully, before your thoughts can really get away from you, Buck chooses this moment to speak up, repeating your confession back to you, “I love you too, ___,” he confirmed sweetly.
Heartbeat increasing immediately, your cheeks flushed, mouth going too dry to reply.
He loved you. Evan Buckley loved you.
“Now, we should probably talk about this, but you really have to go babe, and so do I,” Buck chuckled easily, happiness evident on his own features. “See you tonight.”
“Tonight,” you somehow managed to get out, before your body, moving on autopilot directed you out of the kitchen and towards the door.
The rest of the day seemed to blur by until it was finally time to clock out and see your lover, the only thought on your mind the resounding fact that you and Buck loved each other.

Summary: After the earthquake happens you and Buck both realize something about the other.
When you had first started dating Buck you knew that his line of work was dangerous, hell you knew that from the day you met dating a firefighter would always have it’s up’s and down’s but today...well today took the golden medal for what would possibly be the worst day of your life.
It started out like any other day, you had woken up bright and early going for a jog, you stopped and got some coffee texting your boyfriend when the ground had begun to shake. Living in California you knew what this was almost immediately- an earthquake. Panic surged through you as you quickly hit the ground, “Everyone get down, it’s an earthquake!” You shout finding shelter underneath a table.
Screams began to fill the cafe as glass shattered, coffee spilled over onto the floor, people ducked for cover underneath whatever tables were unoccupied, the lights in the building flickered for a moment before completely shutting off, chaos reigned within the little cafe as the ground beneath you trembled evermore. You had been living in California all your life and you hadn’t seen an earthquake this bad ever.
After what felt like an eternity the shaking stopped, cautiously you stood up although the tremors in the ground had stopped the shaking in your legs hadn’t. Your first thought was to text Buck, to make sure that he was okay. To make sure that he was safe when everything had happened.
To: Pretty Boy
Holy shit are you okay??
(Not Sent)
You swore silently, heart beat picking up in fear as you realized that the cell towers had more than likely been knocked out. Buck was probably okay but there was that panic in the back of your mind ever present- a natural disaster meant that the 118 would have their hands full. You got to work with helping the coffee shop owners pick up the remains of cups, tending to the wounds of those who had been hurt by the falling glass, cleaning the spilled coffee all the while worrying about your boyfriend and the rest of the 118 who had come to be your friends.
Once the shop had been cleaned up sufficiently you headed out to the 118′s station, hoping to find everyone safe and sound as you sent another text message to Buck.
To: Pretty Boy
Let me know when you get this. I hope you’re safe.
(Not Sent)
You hesitated to add more not having verbally spoken the words that would push your relationship with him to the next level. Sure you’d been dating for two months by now but there never felt like there was a good time to say it. Time was fleeting for the both of you since your schedules didn’t always align so when you were together it was spent catching up, making out, and falling into bed. It wasn’t that you didn’t love Buck...you just wanted to wait for a perfect moment.
As you kept heading towards the station you felt your phone buzz in your pocket quite a few times.
From: Pretty Boy
Baby are you okay???
From: Pretty Boy
Hey the cell towers are down so I know you won’t get these until they’re back up but I just want you to be safe. I’ll text you as soon as I can.
From: Pretty Boy
The cell towers are back up!! Are you okay? Can you call me?
You smiled at your phone quickly calling his contact, it didn’t even ring twice before he answered.
“(Y/N)! God I’m so happy to hear your voice! Are you okay? Are you safe? Were you hurt during the earthquake?” Buck quickly asks from his voice you can hear the panic that you once felt and yet a bit of relief as he assess your condition from over the phone. In the background you pick up on a familiar voice- someone repeats your name in confusion- you can almost make out who it is but you’re pre-occupied right now.
“Buck, I’m fine but thank you for worrying about me- are you okay?” You assured him. The voice in the background was more apparent now- it was masculine and you definitely recognized who it belonged to.
“Yeah I’m alr- Eddie can you chill I’m talking to my girlfriend?” Buck asked in exasperation.
“Wait Buck, who’s Eddie? Like Eddie as in Edmundo Diaz?” You asked anxiously, you had no clue that your brother had moved to California- let alone that he’d joined the 118- the last time you had spoken to him was when he had signed up for a second time. You hadn’t left on good terms either you were angry at him for leaving Shannon and Christopher by themselves while he went off to fight another war. This had been years ago but the pain of him leaving still hurt even to this day, briefly you wondered what had changed for him to come live in LA.
“Uh...yeah, actually that’s kind of weird that you know his full name. How exactly do you know each other?” Buck asks a hint of insecurity in his voice.
“Okay so don’t panic but Eddie’s my brother.” You answer after taking a deep breath you continue, “He enlisted in the military and then signed up for another tour when he and Shannon had Christopher, I didn’t like that he was leaving his wife and kid so I told him. We argued about it for awhile and he just left on bad terms.” You finished feeling as though a weight had been lifted off your chest.
“And you guys haven’t spoken since?” He asked hesitantly, Eddie was standing near Buck all but begging him to hand over the phone so that he could speak to you.
“No, it’s not that I don’t want to either I just- I haven’t ever found the right time to reach out to him. Plus I don’t know what I would even say to him, you know?” You replied hoping for some understanding.
“Of course I know that (Y/N), but sometimes there’s not a right time. Sometimes you should just say what you’re feeling.” He suggested, “Look, I’ve been meaning to tell you something I just didn’t know when the right time was. Y/N, baby, I love you.”
The smile on your face seemed to grow bigger as he said those words- it felt like your heart was going to explode with joy. “Buck I love you too.” You replied allaying any fear that he might’ve had. A small laugh fluttered through the line.
“Okay, you’re brother looks like he’s going to murder me so I’ve gotta go but I’ll see you later. I love you, Y/N.” He said happily.

♡ Pairing: Eddie/Preg!Reader
♡ Genre: Fluff, Pregnancy, Family vibes
♡ Word Count: 591
♡ Warnings: Pregnancy
♡ Summary: You feel your baby girl kick for the first time.
♡ Note: I’ve decided to start a lil mini Drabble series for this! Lots of preggo thoughts have been on the mind and I think this could be cute. Plz feel free to request scenarios for them!
.(♡).
It was a quiet Sunday afternoon in the happy Diaz home. It was Spring, but the weather was still warming up and thus quite cold outside, so the three of you had decided to hang out at home for the day. That meant movies, snacks, and snuggling together on the couch with Christopher nuzzled in between you and Eddie.
My Neighbor Totoro was currently playing, which Christopher had been begging you and Eddie to watch for a few weeks now. It had been hard to get to it. Life has been hectic, especially with you being sixteen weeks pregnant and working. Not to mention Eddie and Christopher’s busy schedules.
Therefore, the three of you cherished this precious time together.
You were so relaxed and cozy, curled up with your two favorite people that you were starting to doze off. It didn’t help that Christopher was snuggled against your shoulder, while Eddie’s hand was draped around the couch gently stroking your hair.
Sleep seemed inevitable and you welcomed it, that was until you felt a sudden sharp kick.
Sitting up in surprise, your hands flew to your stomach as you gasped. You hadn’t felt the baby kick yet at all. Your doctor had said it should be coming any day now, but to actually experience it.. You almost couldn’t believe it happened.
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong? Are you in pain?” Eddie asked, hurriedly pushing himself up from the couch and crouching down next to you in concern.
Christopher stayed quiet, eyes flickering between you and his father with worry.
“Oh yes - I’m fine. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare either of you,” you said quickly, “it’s just I think the baby kicked for the first time.”
“Ah, Dr. Celiner said she would be soon, that’s amazing,” Eddie said, visibly relaxing.
“Really? My baby sister is kicking now?” Christopher whispered as he leaned forward, his hazel eyes glowing with excitement.
You smiled softly at his reaction as you reached out to gently brush his hair back. It was always so endearing to see how excited Christopher was about the baby. He had already told everyone how proud he was to soon be a big brother.
Glancing at your boyfriend, you noticed how happy he looked at Christopher’s reaction. Eddie had initially been very worried about how his son would feel about the pregnancy. That worry had been for naught. Christopher was over the moon at the thought of his baby sister and the four of you soon being a family.
“Yes Chris and oh - she just kicked again. Would the two of you like to feel?
Christopher gulped, his eyes widening as he nodded before slowly placing a hand on your stomach.
Eddie smiled and joined his son, placing his hand right beside Christopher’s.
The three of you waited with baited breath until the next kick came. It was a soft flutter this time, but enough to be felt.
Christopher laughed with joy, “I can feel it! There she is!”
“How perfect she is,” Eddie cooed.
“Mhm,” you murmured with pride, so happy to be sharing this moment with the two of them. “I love you both so much.”
Christopher grinned sweetly, looking bashful as he threw his arms around you and whispered the same back to you.
Eddie joined in, squeezing you both before placing a gentle kiss on both of your foreheads.
In this moment, the three of you could feel nothing but the strength of your bond and love for each other. And soon your sweet bundle of joy would be here to complete your budding family.

♡ Pairing: Eddie/Reader
♡ Genre: General
♡ Word Count: 620
♡ Warnings: mentions of deaths related to forest fire
♡ Note: This is for a 30 day writing challenge I am doing to get me inspired about writing again. They'll mostly all be tiny drabbles. This is Day 1: Emotional Reunion.
┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈ ┈
It was nearly three in the morning in the city of Los Angeles. You should be asleep as you have an early shift tomorrow, but you haven't been able to sleep a wink. Instead you were up, pacing around your living room as you waited for your boyfriend, Eddie to walk through the door. He had been gone for a week, having left with the 118 to go assist with a massive forest fire that was raging down south.
This wasn’t the first time he had left to go assist another state with a fire, but you had been watching the news about it and there had been multiple casualties. You couldn’t help but worry that with each day gone, he, himself might become one of them. Christopher had been worried too, yet surprisingly calm about the situation. You assumed he had simply adjusted to dealing with all the worrying about his father. Eddie had been a firefighter for many years, but the two of you had only been together for half a year.
Your relationship was going amazingly, though. The two of you having found a love in each other that was very special. Christopher had accepted you, too – and together the three of you had become a budding family. This was why you were staying with Christopher while Eddie was gone; something you were very thankful for as he truly made you feel everything would be okay.
Eddie had called this afternoon to let you know the 118 would be in late tonight, but was on their way back. He had told you not to wait up, that he would wake you when he got in, but you couldn’t help it. You needed to see the man you loved after worrying about him being out there in that massive fire every single day for the past week.
But, as the hours ticked on and on without him returning, the sleepier you were getting. You were about to give up and crawl into bed, when you heard the familiar sound of the front door unlocking.
You looked over in surprise as Eddie walked through the front door quietly, still in his uniform and carrying a duffle bag. He looked exhausted, his shoulders hunched and his eyes downcast. It took him a moment before he even noticed that you were there.
“Baby, what are you doing up?” Eddie asked, eyebrows furrowed. “Is everything alright?”
You didn’t say a word, only moving towards him and embracing him in a tight hug.
“You’re home. I’m just so glad you came home to us,” you whispered.
“Mi amor, of course I came back. I told you I would,” he replied, wrapping his arms around you in return. “Have you been worrying? You're shaking like a leaf.”
“I’ve just been so scared, I saw other firefighters getting lost in the blaze and I just kept thinking that could be you and… I just couldn’t bear that.”
“Shh, shh, baby, I’m here now and I love you,” he whispered before placing a gentle kiss atop your head. “I will always fight to come back to you and Christopher. Always.”
“You promise?” you whispered, head pressed to his broad chest as he rubbed his hand up and down your back soothingly.
Ever so gently, he brought his thumb up to your chin, prompting you to look him directly in the eyes, “I promise you, darling. Now, how about we get to bed? I want to be up in the morning to make breakfast for Chris before school.”
“Okay,’ you said with a smile, feeling reassured and happy at the thought of the three of you being together again. “I love you.”
“And I love you.”

♡ Pairing: Buck/Reader
♡ Genre: Fluff
♡ Word Count: 1,101
♡ Warnings: None
♡ Summary: When Buck needs some help with Jee-Yun he calls you over.
♡ Note: This is for a 30 day writing challenge I am doing. Day: 2 Parenting & Day 3: Everyone knows but them.
There were not many people you would get out of bed for in the middle of the night, especially after a ten hour shift, but Evan Buckley was one of them. So, when he had called at a quarter past two and begged for help, there was no choice but to leave your warm bed and oblige. Which was why you were currently standing in front of his apartment door, still in your pajamas, tired as hell.
“Uh, hey, Buck?” you said knocking, “it’s me.”
It took a few minutes, but he answered the door, his blue eyes frantic with distress and worry. When Buck had called you, he hadn’t explained why, but as your eyes landed on the crying baby clutched in his arms, you immediately understood.
“Oh thank god you’re here, please come in,” he rushed out, stepping to the side so you could come in.
“Is everything okay with Jee?” You asked, wincing a bit from the loudness.
Buck only sighed, walking past you to go sit down on the couch. He rocked her back and forth gently in his arms, clearly trying to comfort her and get her to calm down.
“She’s been crying non-stop since Maddie and Chimney dropped her off this morning. They'll be out of town for a few days getting some alone time. This is the first time I’ve had her overnight and I guess she’s just not used to it,” he explained over her crying.
“I see and you called me over here because…?”
“Because I know she’s only met you once or twice, but she did so well with you each time. I just thought it might calm her down to see you and if not, maybe I just needed to see you.” Buck admitted, avoiding your gaze.
“Oh,” you mouthed, trying to process what he had just said.
You and Buck were just close friends and had been for a long time now, but you would be lying if you didn’t have feelings for him. How could you not? He was an amazing guy, impressive firefighter, and all around hunk. The two of you had been tight ever since you joined the 118, which was why you were willing to be here right now.
Now, you had no idea how Buck felt about you, but sometimes the things he said gave you hope that he just might have feelings. What did he mean by he needed to see you? Why not call Hen or Eddie? They both had kids and could help with the situation.
Pushing that thought aside, you walked over to him and Jee-Yun. What Buck said was true, each time you had seen her, she had taken to you well. All babies tended to, but it was really just because you knew how to handle them. As the oldest sibling in a single parent household, you had lots of experience raising your younger siblings.
“Let me see her,” you said softly, reaching out your hands.
Buck gave her to you without hesitation, relief on his face as she easily went into your waiting arms.
“Come here mija, you’re going to be just fine,” you murmured, cradling Jee-Yun closely to you as you began pacing around the living room.
She slowly started to relax a bit, her cries turning into low whimpers. You started to sing a soft melody to her like your mother used to and after a while she was drifting off to a sound sleep.
Buck watched in surprise and relief, thankful that you had been able to do what he hadn’t been all day. He knew he had made the right choice by calling you over here.
“Where can I lay her down?” you whispered, once you were sure she was ready.
Buck motioned for you to follow him, getting up and leading you into his bedroom where the crib was set up for her.
You laid her down gently, careful not to wake her up as you got her situated and covered her small body with her soft pink blanket. Then you and Buck hurried out, shutting the door quietly so as not to disturb her.
The two of you waited by the door for a moment to see if Jee-Yun would start fussing. Once a minute or two had passed and she was still quiet, you knew she would be down for awhile.
“You are a lifesaver, thank you so much,” Buck said, heading back into the living room with you following after. “If you hadn’t come, she would definitely still be crying.”
“No problem, you know I’d do anything for you,” you said easily.
It was the truth, you hadn’t known what he needed help with before coming over and that hadn’t mattered.
“Maybe you could let me do something for you to show my appreciation.” Buck suggested as he turned to you, looking directly in your eyes, a cheeky smile on his face.
You blinked curiously, tilting your head to the side. “Like what?”
“Let me take you out on a date this Saturday night? Maddie and Chimney will be back by then.” He said easily, as if his words weren’t causing your heart to beat faster.
Were you dreaming right now? There was no way Evan Buckley was asking you out on a date. Surely not.
“W…Why would you wanna do that?” You managed to get out after a moment.
“Isn’t it obvious? Maddie’s always telling me how obvious it is. I like you, Y/N. I have for a few months now. I’ve been putting off confessing because after my last relationship I’m a bit nervous,” he admitted with a sigh,” but I guess there’s something about dealing with a crying baby all day that gives you courage.”
You both laughed at that, the slight awkwardness in the air a little lighter.
Shit. A late night confession from Buck was the last thing you expected when you came over here, but you weren’t going to complain at all. Quite the opposite.
“Um, well, yes. I’d love to go out on a date with you, Buck. If it helps, Chimney always says my feelings are obvious too.”
Buck looked pleasantly surprised at that. “Really? Well I guess we were the last ones to know.”
“I guess so,” you said shaking your head, “well I should probably go ahead and head out. Call me if you need any more help with her, okay?”
“I will. Thanks again Y/N.”
“Anytime.”
With that you left, the promise of Saturday lingering in the air causing you to smile the entire way home.
