#911 headcanons

oh this is interesting! i had to dig into my headcanon(s) tag to remember because my brain is mush, but here's a few headcanons i like and wish i could write:

buck's years on the road loneliness contrasting to his current canon loneliness. i wrote the road trip fic but i would have liked to write some explicit exploration of buck's time on the road. i think it would be so interesting to do like a real breakdown of that time on the road when he was young and defiant and (deep deep down, past the 22-year-old bravado) probably terrified that he was literally lost in the world and had no idea how to find his way out, or if maybe that's just how life is and he's always going to feel like that because settling down means turning into his cold, distant, screaming parents.

ANYTHING with early s8 tommy and gerrard, and buck trapped in the middle. fuck!!!!!!! i wrote a spec fic right before the s8 premiere that hinted at what this might look like, but i was so lost in the s8 pre-breakup sauce/finishing "what are your intentions" that i didn't have the bandwidth for it.

any morning after the hookup fic. idk why i haven't written about it? mostly because it's so self contained and so fucking stupid and a perfect setup for a misunderstanding resolution that has yet to come. but i really like this idea from @notnowtobey: Rewatched The Morning After scene and I wonder if, while unpacking the coffee maker, Tommy looked around at all the boxes and briefly fantasized that he was moving in with Buck. And when Buck walked in, all he saw was his future about to begin.

i think the 118 & their families all have different group chats. not in a catty way, but bc they'll try to plan some get together or something and just forget they already have an ongoing chat.

for example: maddie organizing circle baby's birthday? she starts a new thread but leaves buck and ravi off by mistake. eddie and may are included and maddie figures eh, they'll pass the info along.

or like, karen starts a new thread with maddie, may, and athena when planning a girls night for them all (plus mara & jee of course), but eddie also gets included. so guess who is NOT invited to girls night but is graciously allowed to stay tuned in to the gossip thread? eddie diaz.

even something like buck sending a recipe along to athena, who then adds harry to the convo to ask if he'd be interested in trying it, who then adds may so they can figure out a day in their schedules so that they can all try it out together.

and so on! i just think with such a big group of loving people, they're bound to have a million different text chains going at any given time, and they trust whatever plans or info or details need to reach the right people, will reach them by the grace of their big loving family. 🩷🩷🩷
