Your smile will forever warm my heart. I remember the feeling I got when I first made you laugh, and you looked up at me with those big black eyes, I knew I’d forever be hooked on you. This year has been hard on us, as individuals, and as a couple. We’ve made it through everything so far, but I realized that sometimes when you love someone enough you have to let them go when you’re no longer what’s best for them. In time, I became resentful, I became angry, I became lonely, and it felt like nothing was going to help, though I loved you dearly I knew inside that I wasn’t good for you anymore and coming to terms with that was honestly probably one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life. I’ve lost my best friend, my second family, and all my children. But the things I’ve gained outweigh the pain from the loss. I gained a friend I never thought I’d have, a love a didn’t think was possible in my lifetime, and memories I will carry with me wherever my life takes me. I’ve loved you since I was 17, I had so much to learn, and so many mistakes to make that I had no idea would hurt you the way they have. I’m sorry for hurting you in the ways I have. But please don’t forget the good, please don’t let the bad times erase the hallway meet ups, the road trips, the vacations, the car ride jam sessions, the sleepy mornings, drunken nights, raves. Don’t forget me. Don’t forget us.
