Week 8: late, so late!! Writing a poem a week became more arduous more quickly than I anticipated. But I intend to persevere, regardless of quality! With that in mind, here's a poem I'm less than fond of. I'll get the next one out soon!
morose, cried grackle. morose and diffident, under heated heaven sun grackle flits under branches splitting the sky, watch grackle grow tail feathers spreading like branches, coming right at me then up! navigating a vertical map of sky unseen and unknown to me
below, through tall grasses, in loamy clover, across patches of dirt mouse, tiny twitchy brown, bewhiskered and bespectacled nose never stopping, body running and stopping and running heart thundering six hundred times a minute, a huge life in a tiny body, tiny body, tiny twitchy body with a huge life
the horizon splits, watching shoots of grass verdant spring rapiers into the endless vertical map, into the palm of mouse, into the mouth of grackle, into the back of my head as i stare up, up, up and the sky changes in ways i cannot percieve and, eventually, some ways that i can
We were in the St. Louis are over the weekend so we had our pick of uncharted territory to explore. We settled on Babler State Park for hike #8of52 because it had off season camping. We hiked some of the bike trail and a portion of trail 5 before we had to head out and head home. We will definitely visit again if we find ourselves in the area again. #52hikechallange #52hikechallenge2018 (at Babler State Park)
Thirteen {8/52 'Loved One'} by Dye Via Flickr: “She’s got a heavy heart, a messy soul, a reckless mind, and I think it’s beautiful the way she carries herself.” – Sean Bates The theme for this week is, 'Loved One.' This is my 13 year old daughter, Kameryn. :)
