HIGH SCHOOL AU! 80STUCK! HUMAN TROLLS! NOTHING ELSE REALLY WEIRD OR ANYTHING. I try and limit my levels of straying from canon.

So I'm still trying to sketch out my full plot (suggestions are welcomed) but so far

John is one of those geeks that's probably like the salutatorian of his class or whatever, and OH GOD, his fashion sense is horrible and I mean it's the 80s??? Like he's got the combed back hair and giant-ass glasses that no one under 50 should be wearing. But he's actually really cute if you can get him to stop all that stuff. In short, he's well-known by his classmates and generally well-liked, but no one really wants to kiss John or anything.

(EXCEPT DAVE)

Dave is the coolkid on the outside, based only from his looks and his aversion to the rest of his classmates. If this was some ridiculous slice-of-life anime, he'd be the stoic character that all the girls think is super cool and mysterious and WOW WHAT A HUNK. Dave's actually not cool at all he goes home and listens to nonstop 80s pop and rock to the point where Rose runs in and rips out his tape player from his hands. Also Rose and Dave are twins in this AU so for all intensive purposes Rose will be known as Rose Strider. They're both raised by Bro, their oldest brother (Dirk) and Roxy is their older sister (but younger than Dirk) who's away at college. Sorta.

More on Dave. He's kinda a huge music fanatic and loves arts in general. John is literally the boy next door (John lives next door) and they've been friends since childhood. They don't interact a ton at school just because they have differing interests. John's busy with Honors Society or something and Dave is busy being cool. Not. He's got the hots for John really bad but keeps his lip shut tight about it. This proves to be increasingly difficult as John is busy pining for Vriska (also known as V). The main plot of the fic will mostly be Dave's amazing plan to woo egbert.

Also Dave does lots of parkour running and strength training when he's alone and thinking about his non-existent plan to win john over. 

Rose is Dave's twin sister who I imagine as an 80s bad girl, (smoking at lunch, scandalous short hair) and tough enough to take care of herself. IDK at this point if I'll have a secondary ship with Rose. She really likes John too, and gives him advice about things. Despite Rose's appearance, she really loves literature and psychology. She gets good grades too. No one will ever know. She also somewhat counsels Dave, but she mostly likes to mess with him.

Jade exists I haven't fleshed her character out as much yet, but she's most likely going to be John's cousin, and she's a cheerleader with big curly 80s hair. THE REST OF JADE'S CHARACTER REMAINS A MYSTERY....

Karkat will probably be thrown into this mess somehow. I'd love to make him a football player but JFC I just can't put KK into a football player body. I just imagine him being this relatively short scrawny guy I mean, if anything he's the ginger that screams about how he has a soul.

Vriska will definitely be thrown into this mess because she's the main girl that John's interested in. She'd probably also be a cheerleader alongside Jade. She's blond and chews a lot of bubblegum. She's pretty stuck up, but I don't think she'll end up that way.

There will most likely be other trolls! SOMEHOW........

I plan to devise a playlist of 80s pop/rock that will be used for chapter themes/titles throughout the fic. I have picked a few out.

I want the penultimate chapter to be set to Earth Angel.

I like the title, "I Made You a Mix Tape" but PLEASE send me suggestions cause I think I could do better.
