I hope y’all don’t mind me going simple for this comic. Had to do it so I can finish on time. As much as I would love to write a very Detey related Valentines comic, I wanted to make a comic of the family bonding instead. I also wanted to add a twist with a bit of a sick fic trope into it. Based this comic also on my siblings because we’re celebrating together by watching a bunch of Valentine’s Day specials from our favorite cartoons. QUCIK HOW CAN I MAKE IT ABOUT DOG MAN MOMENT tehehe so I made the family do it, too. Just gonna rant on, I was planning to draw Petey kissing DM on the cheek til I realized he was sick :’D so he really shouldn’t. So instead y’all get a cute forehead to forehead moment. I kinda like it more because I think it’s just so much more sweet. It can be platonic or romantic, either way they love each other. <3

ALSO ALSO I imagine this being the first time the family celebrating Valentines so that’s why Petey is extra bummed out for being sick. If you see in the living room the bag and the candies, those are from LP. That’s his little decorated Valentines bag he made in school as he collected valentines from his classmates. I don’t think I made that very clear in the art but oh well.

I would have added Valentine’s Day balloons and more decorations but I kinda wanted to go away from the overconsumption/consumer shopping of the holiday. I think LP, 80HD, and DM would have fun making paper decorations instead. Plus, I take Valentine’s Day as a chill holiday so I wanted it to just be a chill celebration with the family. Nothing overly overwhelming and very mundane, but still a little special. GOD sorry for the long rant. Longer than I expected. I just felt like explaining some bits into this comic. I hope y’all are having a good day and treat yourself this holiday.
