i rarely yapp on here, and I doubt this will reach anyone, but I just HAVE to put my thoughts out there, or else I might explode.

let me start this by saying: Holy. fucking. shit.

I sometimes get really attached to characters, and in this case I am talking about Grumley and Booker from Legends of Avantris' campaigns Root, Uprooted and uproot-a-rama. I have only stated watching LoA since October 2025, but I have quickly come to love what they do and obsess over certain characters.

That I haven't been a fan for so long doesn't mean that I can't love the characters deeply, though. And for me that is kind of the problem.

Because whether you want to interpret the relationship between Booker and Grumley as romantic or platonic doesn't really matter to me, as I think it is clear as day that these two characters care deeply for one another.

That's why, in Uprooted S2 ep.8, when Grumley falls down into the cavern (or whatever it was) and pretty much fucking dies and Booker finally gets to him and sings to him softly while in fucking tears, also had me literally sobbing while watching it. It's just the way that you can tell that to the character, Booker, Grumley is very important. The way they described it had me in fucking tears. (which brings me to my problem of attaching myself to fictional characters, but I'll get back to that later)

Generally, all these little moments in Root and Uprooted where one tries to protect the other, or even what the cast probably percieve as just some throwaway line, but which also hints at just how close Booker and Grumley actually are — they really affect me on such a deep level — [not to play my own therapist here, but I would guess that that is because I subconsciously long to have a similar relationship with someone as these two — to have someone you can blindly trust etc. etc.]

Now, as for ep.3 of uproot-a-rama; the way that Booker dying in the bone cave (idk what else to call it), and Grumley desperately trying to save him, with tears and healing and all, MIRRORS what happened in Uprooted S2 ep.8??? It just does something to me.

I have already mentioned this parallel in the discord under a fanart of uproot-a-rama ep.3, and I'm pretty sure [or at least I hope] that I'm not the only one who noticed this.

To clarify: I have seen the fanart before watching uproot-a-rama, meaning that I have been spoilered (i dont mind though), and after finishing the episode myself, I was literally in tears. [there have been very few moments fron LoA so far that have had this effect on me]

Either way, my conclusion is that I find it crazy that frictional characters, who are being played by real people who exist at the same time as me [just on the other side of the fucking planet] could affect me this much.
