the first time eggsy is invited round for dinner with @bedivre’s family :
eggsy wears the same outfit he wore to the palace in TGC --- that orange jacket , bowtie , white shirt , black trousers.
he’s super nervous --- glances at vee before allowing himself to do anything kjhkjhs
every now and again some food is placed in front of eggsy and he just leans towards vanessa like “ idk wot this is wot is it ”
doesn’t know much about vee’s culture --- sure , she’s taught him , but in the face of the rest of the family , it all kinda ... goes out the window
he’s specifically learned a few phrases in Hindi to help him impress the family --- namely , impress vanessa’s father , and grandmother. these phrases include : thank you , this tastes good , and how are you
he bought the family chocolates
eggsy gets along with vanessa’s cousins just fine , though is aware that they poke fun at him in Hindi on a regular basis akjsfhsakf
they teach him Hindi swears
they also play board games with him
the Spice Challenge occurs , perhaps unintentionally. eggsy , being as white as he is , cannot tolerate the spice that is so liberatingly infused in everything vanessa’s family have prepared for dinner. yet for fears of leaving a bad impression he eats everything regardless , sweating through it , pretending nothing is wrong as he smiles through the burning sensation that numbs his throat , before excusing himself to drink a gallon of cold water and splash some on his face.
the traumatising moment when eggsy forgets someone’s name bc there are A Lot Of People
he handles his ignorance towards certain topics quite well. unlike in TGC , whenever vanessa’s father asks eggsy a question about something he doesn’t know , eggsy doesn’t wait for input from roxy , but instead just responds with something along the lines of : “ I don’t actually know much about that , but i’d love to learn from you. tell me. ”
and that probably gets him william’s approval , eventually
okay but do they teach eggsy to eat with his hands or no ??? because watching eggsy attempt to do that and then applauding when he succeeds would be hilarious
