Yet in many traumas, expression is either impossible or expressly prohibited.
the violence is not articulated to others, and often barely even to the victim herself
pain refers to the disintegration of the wounded person and to her need for reintegration, and expresses the value of the person harmed, her wholeness, and her wished-for unwounded connection to the world.
But if these expressive aspects of pain are hindered or destroyed-if the wounding is not communicated or intended normality not achieved-pain reiterates. It is not resolved, but becomes part of the lived structure of the human being suffering it
The silenced pain (...) is not purposeful or even identifiable pain-the dancer's feet, the penitent's back. It is pain hidden so deeply within the body that it can scarcely be felt. It is the body, silently. (...) It is a broken membrane, disappeared, ripped. It is an uncertain hesitation, a fear of the dark (...) It is a cigarette, dragged on, hard.
(...) when one is silenced (...) one result is that the pain (...) often literally cannot be perceived. Negating the expressiveness of pain makes pain impossible to discern as such.

If I had a nickel for every time a fandom I was in had a dark-haired comparatively skinny character that could be charitably described as creepy yet ends up a fandom heartthrob with an aesthetic they're entirely too dedicated to as part of a gimmick they invented to build fear who fell into crime at a very young age, had a sibling that died tragically young, trauma associated with sickness, an older male caretaker figure who died and set them on a path to take revenge for the circumstances that killed them by creating an entirely too convoluted plan in order to make their killer lose everything, have the notable canon event of recuing a member of their crew from slavery AND have been forced to spend time in a pile of corpses I would have two nickels and JESUS FUCK HOW DID IT HAPPEN TWICE
i know we all hated inej leaving in the finale but yall… the potential… IMAGINE THEIR REUNION!!! THE PINING WILL INCREASE TENFOLD!!!! THE TENSION IN THE BATHROOM SCENE WILL BECOME MORE AMPED UP DUE TO THEM MISSING EACH OTHER SO MUCH!!! KAZ’ UTTER FEAR WHEN INEJ GETS INJURED WHEN HE ONLY JUST GOT HER BACK!!! come on now!!
guys is this a safe space to say that when I was reading 6oc for the first time I for some reason pictured Jesper as white.
like I didn't know he was black until I reread CK the second time?? idk how I missed that but I used to picture him as like. Jasper from twilight but actually funny/cool or wtv and in a beige cowboy outfit. prolly because Jasper and Jesper sound similar so my 11yo mind mixed up the two
anyways I'd like to apologize to Jesper and all Jesper fans on behalf of me at 11. that's mb gang he looks much cooler in my head now
I also pictured Kaz with white hair

I actually love that we don’t get a wylan pov until crooked kingdom, because you go through pretty much all of the first book thinking it’s a story about a sweet, innocent, delicate little mercher’s boy who is, under the tutelage of a hardened criminal, learning to express his true self. And then you get wylan’s pov in book 2 and realise his “true self” is completely fucking unhinged
