yk I feel weird on Barry bc on one hand it’s so obvious where a lot of the in-game humour and other writing stuff around them comes from and I don’t necessarily connect to or relate to it but on the other hand I still appreciate a lot of it and especially Barry being a nonbinary player character for me to view the game through is like woah bc hey I’m nonbinary and still kinda navigating what that actually means for me and this one-off Sonic character gets to be an avenue for my thoughts while also still being like their own character and a look into what regular life is like for non-hero characters in the world of Sonic and stuff and that’s also cool bc I appreciate learning more about that world and stuff, you know?

murder of sonic post, it kinda surprises me how many people get Barry’s pronouns wrong. The actual name “Barry” is traditionally masculine and their design doesn’t follow typical Sonic female design tropes so I imagine people just mentally go “oh so they’re a guy then” - like it’s easy to see why those people are wrong. But idk Barry’s only referred to with they/them pronouns in game and in the code and even by the game’s writers and stuff, and we’re also like on tumblr the nonbinary site and if you’re invested enough in Sonic to like actively post about the brand new game and character on tumblr then surely you’ll have come across something letting you know they’re nonbinary, right?

last Mario movie thought for the night is that Mario himself actually doesn’t speak too often in the movie so once again really think we could have and should have just used Charles Martinet because the man’s been a professional voice actor for decades and the “but the Mario voice would get annoying for a film’s runtime” defence of Pratt did not work as a good defence in the first place and especially doesn’t work now that we’ve seen how little he speaks in the movie
