The Ford Prefect was upgraded for the 1960 model year and redesignated the model code 107E. Utilizing a reworked 100E body with the then-new 997 cc OHV engine, four speed gearbox, it main purpose was to provide Ford with a four door model until replaced by the Ford Consul Classic. Most were finished in two tone colour schemes and Deluxe trim. Mechanically the cars had 8 inch diameter hydraulically operated drum brakes and the suspension was independent at the front using MacPherson struts.
