Hostgator - Internal error 500 - Ipad,Iphone,Mac Imap Issue
My website were slow at hostgator and i thought it was due to someone doing something bad on the Shared Web server. However i knew the reason was different. I knew it because sometimes ago i have found a forum describing the issue with IMAP servers from Hostgator setup in Ipad, Iphone. When you setup IMAP servers to reach your hostgator mailboxes, it creates on-going active processes in Hostgator.
In my case, i had 13 active processes in my hostgator accounts. I thought it was safe because i stayed below the 25 processes limit from my hostgator account. What i did not know, was that every mortning (GMT+1) there were some automated tasks running on my account. For instance, there are processes involving cpanel, webalizer and awstats. I have been surprised that this morning i had also 13 active processes coming from those automated tasks.
Logically, 13 processes + 13 processes = 26 processes. In this case, when it happened, i had an internal 500 error on each of my website pages.
Here are the procedure i followed to fix this problem:
I forward all my hostgator mailboxes to one hostgator mailbox
I switched from IMAP to POP as i did not need any IMAP account
I used multiple identities in mail application in my macintosh by entering my different emails. To do so: i go to mail app then go to preferences, click on account, then choose your mail account in the list, then in the field email addresses enter all the email addresses that you want to be seen at sender email addresses separated by a comma (ex: [email protected],[email protected],[email protected])
When you will write an email from this particular mailbox you will be able to choose between different email addresses.
