5 problems of a star student
I present to you 5 problems of any star student that are mainly from family, friends and self even.
1. Parents don’t care.
I’m serious here! They fucking don’t. They really don’t. Once you’ve achieved A+s your whole life, or have aced every test you’ve taken, then they believe you would never fail, that you can continue that until college. But guess what? College is harder and more demanding than high school; compared to high school, college makes the former look like a joke.
2. No alternative activity because you’re Mr./Ms. Smartypants
Seriously, it does not mean that you can study for hours on end does not mean you want to. It’s this one that pisses me off. I hate it because parents think that their child can just study all the time and not have an alternative activity, which is ridiculous because no one is perfect. I like studying, but I want to go out and have fun with my good influenced friends, but may I? Nope! Because parents think it’s ridiculous for their child to do anything other than study.
3. Less friends.
The nerd life are for those who are comfortable with being left out from parties, gatherings, outings, and just general lunch breaks. Why? Because you prioritise studying, and because you don’t get to hang out with your friends as often, your circle will get smaller and smaller till you have that one friend who shares the same mindset as you.
4. No one worries about you.
They stop worrying and instead just start envying or praising you. Envying you because you get high grades, praise you because you achieve a lot academic-wise. It’s a curse. People are so used to you achieving that no one will ask you if you’re having a hard time with this research paper, or if you need help confronting a group mate who wouldn’t contribute. Nope, they think you’re doing dandy because you always manage to pull through.
5. You get anxiety and you become a perfectionist.
I have a mild case of social anxiety, and it honestly drains me to try and please everyone (teachers, parents, etc.) while simultaneously fearing rejection or being negatively judged or even misunderstood by my actions. Perfectionist because since I have achievements, I want that to be a constant thing; therefore I have a habit of trying to perfect everything I do because I do not want to fall short of my sky rocketing expectations which sucks.
Being a start student is great guys; there are a lot of benefits and perks with being high achieving. However, there are heavy consequences, and it’s honestly a lonely life unless you find someone who has the same mindset as yours. I haven’t yet, which is why I feel very lost and honestly alone. I don’t know what to do about it. Ha, look at that. A start student who has no answer for a simple problem. Would you look at that.
