Played Stardew a bunch again last night.

Just got up again and did my workout.

DD was 30 split lunges. Did 15/15 in one go. Took a bit digging in by the end of it today. Was a lil bit dehydratted. :P

Day 11 of the ECC was the same a Day 9. Breezy.

Day 11 of the PUP was Arm Day. Managed to hold my arms up for the whole 6' of the sequence. Ngl, side shoulder taps are an amusing moment to fan my face. Because the heat. orz

Just in time to have some food arrangements lined up with family.

Might do touch-ups on a project or work on the Wretched!Remus fic at some point today.

I think we need to kill the sentiment that people lose their right to personhood once they do something bad enough

I don't know who needs to hear this but you need to stop dehumanising people even if those people are "abusers" or "creeps" because you need to understand that you are not immune to doing something equally as bad

Abusers and creeps are not some species of especially heinous animal or alien or monster wearing the face of a human. They're people. And you NEED to drill it into your head that they are people because you NEED to remember that people are capable of doingn heinous shit. And you are a person. And your loved ones are people.

By emotionally classifying people who have done heinous things as subhuman filth incapable of thinking and feeling and acting just like you and me, and by using that emotional dehumanization as a reason to deny those people any compassion or support on a systemic level, you risk becoming blind to abuse/violence perpetrated by someone close to you or even yourself. Because if "abusers don't deserve rights", then you won't ever want to admit or accept that you or a loved one is perpetrating abuse, and that makes stopping the abuse or preventing further abuse much harder. This is how you end up excuaing abusive behaviour on the grounds that, since you don't see someone as a disgusting subhuman pile of garbage therefore they can't possibly be An Abuser, Trademark

And here'a the even harder pill to swallow: since the world isn't split into "abusers" and "good people", in the same way you or someone you love can inflict abuse/violence on others, the people who HAVE inflicted abuse/violence on others can, in fact, change and become better people

There is no bottomless chasm of moral uncleanliness that someone can run off and fall into and get stuck in forever. People can do better. Yes, even those people. You HAVE to accept this. Otherwise not only is there no motivation for anyone to try and do better (which is when people become stuck in a cycle of violence and abuse they don't want to escape), but your idea of a perfect justice system doesn't look any different from Literal Christian Hell. And I HOPE you understand that Literal Christian Hell is, to put it very lightly, not a good justice system.

#on point #a lot of abusive shit starts with a certain degree of solipsism that /every/ human being comes into this world w/#we are always going to be limited by our own thoughts/experiences/beliefs whenever we interact with other people #that inherent blindspot is where the 'road to hell is paved in good intentions' lies #where one can mistreat someone else 'cause they're just not /listening/ to the other party's input that well (or some other comm breakdown)#and are convinced that they are doing what's right - because they love and respect them and earnestly believe they're a good person #you are not ontologically/fundamentally good or evil. the best anyone has to work w/ is actions and their consequences.#(individualistically one doesn't have the responsibility to wait on someone to change indefinitely - because they can't ctrl that)#(but systemically/socially - there still needs to be space for that to happen)

i think americans should have to put a banner above their post that says U.S. CENTRIC ADVICE/INFORMATION. i think political posts should clarify that they are giving protest/societal/class information relevant only to the USA i think i would like to stop getting halfway through a post with really good information and then realising it is not widespread advice and is only applicable in the united states of america

for the love of GOD can we PLEASE stop treating us-centric advice as applicable to the whole entire world. Please. beyond anything else, i do not think you guys understand how difficult it makes it for young people to interact with and learn information relevant to them.

at a certain point, treating us-american advice as universally applicable borders on misinformation. i am not saying that it is done maliciously, but it is dangerous at worst. i do not want younger people going around assuming that certain laws do/do not apply to them and getting in trouble because of it. i worry about what 'fundamental/constitutional/labour rights' are only legally defensible in the USA. i worry about kids who do not know yet to wonder where the advice is for, and take it as fact because a post that reads "EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THIS" begins with "EVERYONE".

okay yes all the tags are very very good points but i would like to point out the main reason i made this post, which is that

if you are non-american then it can be dangerous to hold beliefs about your rights that are only applicable in the US.

i am australian and i have seen young australians have completely us-american perceptions on the rights they hold (or do not hold) in regards to protest, police officers, self-defense, medical care, higher education, debt, and legal proceedings. i am not talking about "boooo americans" i am talking about the genuine danger it might present to have us-centric assumptions in high-stakes situations

(please do not chalk this up to 'if you don't do research then you are stupid'. i made this post with young people in mind. that being said i am willing to bet it also applies to others, ie those who are newer to non-local internet, older folks, or those escaping high-control environments.)

Sleep is still kind of a hot mess, again.

But just got in my exercise.

DD was 20 hook kicks. Managed 10/10 in one go. A very satisfying motion, though one has to mind the planted leg's knee throughout it. As per the usual, my love of combat exercises remains~ =w=

Day 10 of the ECC was 70 step jacks. Did that in one go pretty easily.

Day 10 of the PUP was Leg Day. Had to drop several times for recovery, today. Still was feeling it, the entire way. Made them hip flexors feel noodle-y from the fatigue. But it's a good feeling~

Might have some arrangements for food soon. And a few more moments to do some finishing touches on Big Bang stuff. And/or attempt to write more of this Wretched!Remus fic.
