Hey folks! I just got my racerback binder from @gc2b and I haven’t seen many reviews about it cause it’s fairly new, and the ones I have found are for bigger people, but I’m quite small so here’s my experience with it!

[EDIT] I made this ages ago but Ive gotten a few notes lately so just clarifying — I know the quality of gc2b has gone down significantly and a lot of people have been harmed, while I never had an issue for binding with these I haven’t worn a binder in years so I can’t speak for their current product — I urge you to look for more recent reviews and listen to people who know the currently available binders better

First here’s the comparison to the regular half tank binder:

On the left is the racerback binder (new) and on the right is the half tank binder (about 1 year old). The pictures are facing front, facing down, and inside out. You can see on the third picture the compression panel of the racerback binder is about 2 inches longer than the half tank.

This is how the two binders look on:

On the left is the racerback binder and on the right is the half tank. The racerback is longer so it covers a bit of my stomach, and the compression panel covers up the armhole a bit better so nothing comes out of it (which happens a bit with the half tank). Also the straps are thinner and the neck hole is a bit deeper, which hides better under shirts.

Here’s what it looks like with shirts on:

Both pictures are me wearing the racerback binder. The first shirt is a tank top and you can’t really see the binder, it’s only visible from the sides. The second shirt is a regular T-shirt, and it still isn’t visible.

Overall I think this is a great binder, it was a lot more comfortable to put on than the half tank, and I didn’t feel as much that I had to break it in to start wearing it. The thing I liked the most was the neck hole being a bit deeper because it hides a lot better, even in tank tops.

For a small person, I definitely think it’s worth spending a couple more bucks to have a binder that is more comfortable, more hideable and well, it binds perfectly, my chest is basically gone with this. 💖

The last picture is the oldest, 5 years ago taking pictures with my mom before prom. It wasn’t long before that, not even a full year I believe, that I got my first binder. It was bought for me online by someone I had befriended on tumblr when I was 14, and 3 years later they gifted me my first binder. I dont even know where I would have been without such a generosity.

As a kid I hated being called a girl, demanded I be called a tomboy, and practically glowed when my friends called me “one of the guys”. It took me until middle school to realize things on a deeper level; that the gender of the person didn’t matter in my attraction to them, that I felt more like a boy but felt that that was a betrayal to my mother who raised a handsome son and beautiful daughter. I went through stages of labels; bigender, demiboy, but they never felt right. One day I finally admitted to myself I was a boy, just a boy that was stuck being seen as a girl.

By this time I knew the battle that would be ahead of me and I’d already come out to my parents as all these other things. These fleeting guesses at my identity. Now I was sure. This was the only thing that really settled in the hole in my chest.

My mother loves me and that will never stop no matter my gender, she just doesn’t understand it herself and can’t commit to using my “new” name and pronouns. It hurts. It still does today. But I still love her and she is still the biggest piece of my heart. It has tested our relationship and pulled back my veil of adoration for everything she did, but we are both adults and if we fight over it we come back and talk and cry and find catharsis and move on. My father adapted around everyone but my mother where he reverts. We have a very different relationship than I do with my mom but we still make it work. My brother was the most supportive. It wasn’t a simple thing, he made sure I was positive in who I was before he fully went into it, but once he saw how effected I was he was quick to adapt.
