European “Utility” version is this week’s special 🏁 MERCEDES BENZ E-Klasse T-Modell (S123) (1978-1986)
This gasoline/petrol 2.8-liter M110 inline six-cylinder with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection initial output was 175 horsepower @ 6000 rpm. 185 horsepower (after the 1979 engine update) in Europe. Torque: 173–177 lb-ft @ 4500 rpm. PLEASE NOTE; Mercedes-Benz did not officially sell the 280TE (S123) estate between 1978 and 1986 in USA 🇺🇸. The gasoline-powered 280TE was exclusively a European model. Stricter regulations in various categories deterred this. However, many "Euro-spec" 280TEs were imported privately into the United States through a process known as "grey-market" importing. These are non-US compliance though..
Trivia:- W123s built from 1975 to 1986, fewer than 180,000 had the gasoline/petrol injected twin-cam engine. Today, the estates (TEs) are the most sought-after variants.
