The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang is widely considered one of the most iconic and effective long-range fighter-bombers used by the Allies during World War II and later in the Korean War.
One Packard V-1650-7 (a U.S. license-built version of the legendary British Rolls-Royce Merlin engine) generating up to 1,490 horsepower. 437 mph (703 km/h) at an altitude of 25,000 feet. Up to 1,650 miles (2,655 km) when equipped with auxiliary under-wing drop tanks. Six .50 caliber Browning M2 machine guns mounted inside the wings. Trivia:- Over 15,000 Mustangs were built across multiple variants during its production run. Today, roughly 300 exist worldwide, with about half still in airworthy condition flying at airshows and historical exhibitions.
