but everyone in the grid has that same talent and skill, albeit in varying levels of consistency and application. everyone is fighting for a wdc.

what will make george special in his fight for wdc?

his experiences in williams.

its no secret that williams have been struggling for years.. and george knew what he was getting into. he could have been indifferent or arrogant or had that attitude of “well im just passing time until i get a seat in mercedes bc we all know that i inevitably will”. he was the f2 champion of his year, for fucks sake.

AND YET.

the way george handled his three years in williams? he handled it with so much grace, patience and unrelenting passion even when the fucking car just wasn’t there with him. he worked so hard with the team to help improve the car— and now, williams is getting points in 2021.

just imagine that. this is the williams that was days late for testing. of course, it was more of the actual engineering team and such that fixed the car. but george helped. george PUSHED that tractor through 51 races.

his experiences in williams would have, undoubtedly, humbled him and he will bring that with him to mercedes and to the wdc fight.
