連休明けの仕事を取り急ぎ午前で終え、洗濯機を回した。陽気な天候の中パタパタはためく衣服たちを見ていると、ほっとする。生活を、している、と感じる。全自動のコーヒーメーカーは今日もご機嫌に豆を挽いてくれて、ガリガリと伝わる音と香りに脳をノックされ、まだ口にもしていないのにその刺激によって目が覚めていく。はじまる、と感じるのは、こんなときで、何もパソコンを開いたり夢から覚めたりしたときではない。一向にはじまらない日だってある。

一般的に言われる青春時代とは思春期にあたるこっぱずかしい期間。当時は気付いていなくてもいろんな人に囲まれて接して揉まれていたなぁと思う。友達同士のいざこざとか恋愛だとか何か大事件のようなものが特別無くても、ただ日常を送っているだけなのに特別な時代になった気がする。作者も言っているように、あの頃のいろんな経験は私の糧になっているように思う。青春をともにした人たちはいつか死んで行く。それが青春のほんとうの終わり。
