2014!castiel’s Fall wasn’t instantaneous. it happened over the course of a few weeks, weeks filled with fevers, nightmares, cramps and aches, shivers and sweats. screams that could be heard throughout the camp. jimmy now long gone, cas is alone. when his grace starts to flicker he’s already curious, searching for whatever makes him feel the most like an angel again, high off it. dean doesn’t visit during his Fall. he makes sure cas is watched over and taken care of, but he only shows up once, sees cas writhing and withering, and doesn’t show up again.
cas never truly fits into his body like a human should. he can’t always feel pain, his nerves somewhat disconnected from his brain, overflowing with the knowledge of a celestial being (which slowly fades day by day, as no human brain can withhold all of that. some days he speaks only in enochian so as not to lose his own language- people usually avoid him on those days). his broken foot was his own fault. he turned too fast, broke his ankle. he didn’t even feel it until he stopped running. he’s just a little too fast, a little too strong, but his senses and sensors are all kinds of fucked up and he cant stop twitching sometimes. being high makes it easier, because at least then the disconnect feels good. castiel knows dean is sending him to his death. he goes anyway. better to go down together, like this. he doesn’t know how, but he does feel deans death like a croat bite to the throat. he lets them come.
I'm hapless, I'm hopeless. I mean, why the hell not bury myself in women and decadence, right? It's the end, baby. That's what decadence is for! Why not bang a few gongs before the lights go out? But then that's just how I roll.
