i think this is gonna depend on how childe like As A Person and whether we think the battlelust comes from the abyss or from just...him? which i don't really have a good analysis on or answer for so for the sake of argument if childe simply did not have that battlelust, what would their relationship look like?

frankly i think he's a "face things head-on" kind of person, and in a very similar way as he is in canon, where he doesn't like manipulation or politics or anything like that. i bet he is SUPER good with kids partly for that reason, like. he isn't out here trying to manipulate kids into going to be on time or whatever, he's just straight up like 'look u stay up late ur gonna be tired and u can decide what u want to do'. big on letting consequences speak for themselves

ANYWAY i think he doesn't cause the same kinds of problems without his battlelust, and doesn't join the fatui, and doesn't leave snezhnaya until his little siblings are chomping at the bit to go to some 'lantern rite festival thing' they learned about in school all the way over in liyue. and, well, they don't have a lot of cash (no fatui), but childe works his goddamn ass off to get them all over there the next year, and that's how he meets zhongli

i think that what strikes me about zhongli here is that i don't think he ever fell for childe (broadly speaking, ship or not) for his battle prowess lmao. like. i think it's every other aspect of him - things that probably still persisted without his battlelust - that zhongli appreciated? like, i don't think his drive or determination disappears without the battlelust, it's just pointed in a different direction (that probably involves making enough money to help support his family)

so i think childe studies. i think he's the smartest guy in the entirety of morepesok, i think he knows way more than any person has a right to know, and he's never really satisfied with that, cause smart people, they make money, so the smarter he is, the more money he can make (he reasons), but that doesn't happen in snezhnaya, certainly not in morepesok, but in liyue? the place is CRAWLING with opportunities for a good job, if he's smart enough to get one (and he damn sure is), so he sends his siblings back and stays longer, and gets a job where he can send money back i swear this isn't just a childe analysis here lmao

ANYWAY i think he finds zhongli not only impressive and hot but i think he has an even greater appreciation for the fact that zhongli is a walking liyuen encyclopedia? and (true to fanon canon-universe zhongchi form) he loves to just listen to zhongli talk. could do it for hours and hours, if zhongli wanted to talk that long

i think too that childe without the abyss and without the battlelust and without the fatui would give them time in a way they never have in canon, for their dynamic to actually evolve more organically in a way it never really had a chance to. but honestly fundamentally i think it rests on the same pillars it does in canon, with a childe that fell into the abyss!

I was wondering if maybe you would have any ideas where to watch the old school saint seiya? I bought all the dvd a decade ago but they don't have japanese dub and frankly, the dubbing is a disaster. I cannot watch them anymore, between mistranslations and censorship it is... not good.

I've tried to look for them legally, no dice, and also less legally but results are only okay-ish for the more recent Hades chapters. (I felt it was alright in this case to look for alternative ways since I already bought all the dvd but I'd much prefer a legal way...)

And streaming isn't really my thing but if you know of ways to stream them, I'd be super grateful anyway !

Hi!! ok so spoilers for dark phoenix bellow!

They weren’t canon in the sense that they kissed and made up and got married with kids (not on screen at least lol). What happened was that when we arrive at the last scene Charles is alone sitting at a café in Paris (a café with a name that I believe translates from french to “The Old Friends”, in the “Peace Street”), and we’re shown this after having seen that his name was taken off his school and hank is the one running things there now. So for all that we know Charles is disconnected from everyone else, all on his lonesome, which for Charles who absolutely loved his students is very sad. But then! out of nowhere! like a phoenix born from the ashes! mister Magneto himself, Erik Lehnsherr, shows up in PARIS, where Charles was ALONE, with his dorky portable chess set and he offers Charles a game. But it doesn’t stop at that! Erik says, and I quote “a long time ago, you saved my life and you offered me a home. I’d like to do the same for you.” (like can you believe?) and Charles gives him this look that is subtle but just screams vulnerability, because (I’m going to say this again) he was ALONE, and then not only did someone come purposefully for him, but it was ERIK, and Erik was there to offer him a HOME, for the two of them.

ERIK, the one who always left. The only one who came back.

And then Erik takes two things from his pockets and offers his fists to Charles so that Charles can choose. Charles chooses the left and Erik reveals a chess piece. We never see what’s in the right fist, but dammit if we don’t all love to believe it was a ring! (That’s why it’s called “Paris Proposal”!) And listen, Erik couldn’t take his eyes off of Charles throughout the whole thing. Then Erik says “I’ll go easy on you” (with the softest look on his face) and Charles smiles big and says “no you won’t” AND THEN listen, I’m gonna have a heart attack just remembering it, like I can’t even watch it without feeling like I’m going to die, but the way Erik smiles and ducks his head is SO SOFT. I can’t even explain it. And this is how it ends, with them together just the two of them, playing their chess game, being the softest they’ve ever been (first class is my baby, but it’s got nothing on the softness from the last scene of dark phoenix, NOTHING), and getting ready to build a home together.

I can’t stress this enough. A HOME. Magneto and Professor X, the ones who never end up together, who no matter how much they love each other always end up separate. Those guys, them! They are building a home.
