Hello. I have read a lot of your metas and just general ideas about the show and episodes and love your point of view of things. I was wondering what is your take on 2014!Dean in 5x04 The End. That episode is my favorite and I recently discovered Jensen has said at a Nerd HQ panel it was his as well. I know some think itâs demon!Dean and so on, what do you think about him? ( Also the fact that he doesnât have the amulet breaks my heart cause writers planned it so early that season. )

5x04 âThe Endâ will probably always remain one of my personal âTop 5âł-episodes of SPN. Ben Edlund wrote a masterpiece there imo in any way, shape and form.
I think 2014!Dean is one of the most interesting characters or alternate versions of Dean that we had the chance to meet on the show and that is probably partly the reason why I have a huge soft spot for fics set in endverse.
Of course seeing 2014!Dean is painful, because much like the Impala sits abandoned and hollowed out, just a shell of what âBabyâ used to be, in said episode on the outskirts of the camp and overgrown with moss, so the Dean we see is just a shell of the man we have come to know and love on SPN (I have talked about the Impala as a visual represnetation for Deanâs psyche/soul multiple times - but Iâm just going to leave a link to this one here).
2014!Dean has lost about everything and everyone he loved, the experiences, the feeling of guilt and of thinking maybe everything could have been different if he had made a different decision is weighing on his shoulders. He is hardened and unlike our Dean seemingly unable to allow himself to feel or truly show any emotion anymore.
I think Jensen did an amazing job at portraying this version of Dean, because even if they had put both Dean versions in the exact same clothing his facial expressions and the way he carried himself as 2014!Dean would have made it clear from the get go, which one is âour Deanâ.
So yes, 2014!Dean and the entire verse will always have a very special place in my heart, though my personal fave alternate version of Dean will probably always be Demon!Dean, because he too was such a complex charcater and despite the label âdemonâ still someone with something like a moral codex and qualities of âour Deanâ that we love shine through even through the darkest and thickest black.
In fact, why donât you give me one good reason why I shouldnât gank you right here and now?
