Celebrity Interview with Misha Collins by Jason Clevett (top video in link)

Misha: It's pretty - it's- (laughs) it’s a strange phenomenon. It's called- Let me educate you. It's called Destiel, and it's fanfiction that's written about the romantic, um, interludes that happen between Dean and Cas. You don't even watch the show, do you? ... No, you don't. (laughs) It's fine, I can see the look- the blank look on your face, it's fine. Um, it's (laughs) a totally unexpected and strange phenomenon, much like the-- the lap interview itself. (referencing the woman sitting slightly on his lap)
Jason: And so-
Misha: Quick, comic moment, pan- (moves camera to show woman on his lap) There you go.
Jason: And so you joke about, even joked about this a great deal-
Misha: I don’t joke (interviewer laughs), but go on.
Jason: You joked about this yesterday at the panel, including stating that this season would be the season where Dean figures out that he’s a bottom.
Misha: Yeah. (nodding like he wants to qualify that statement) Sort of. Yeah.
Jason: Sort of?
Misha: Yeah. Well, what I said technically was, um, we learn definitively that Dean is a bottom in Purgatory, but yeah.
Jason: Thanks for being specific there for me, Steve. (talking to cameraman)
Misha: Not to correct you, but you were wrong.
Jason: Way to take it out of context there, Steve. (laughs) You can’t get good help these days. Um, so, you know that, that- It seems like any- especially in sci-fi, any show that has, you know, strong male characters in a relationship- (Misha: “Yeah”) going back to to Kirk and Spock- (Misha: “Right, yeah.”) There’s always some-
Misha: Starting with Kirk and Spock-
Jason: Yes, starting with. There always seems to be sort of some undertones, even if it's not intentional, of some eroticism.
Misha: No, but weirdly, I think that we all, we dial in to that fanbase and sort of tip our hats all the time. Like, we know it's there, and we subtly allude to the-- to the fanbase and their, um, affinity for that, you know, homoerotic tension, for sure.
Jason: Well, the funny thing is, a lot of fanfiction is written by women.
Misha: Most of it.
Jason: Most of it?
Misha: Most homoerotic slash fiction about two male characters is written by heterosexual women. Not to, you know, school you. (laughs)
Jason: No, I was- I was aware of this, so.
Misha: It’s- it’s- and I, y’know, I don’t pretend to be able to explain it, but yeah.
Jason: Well, I guess the final thing, since this is a gay magazine, is there anything you would like to say, specifically yourself, to the gays who are going to read this interview and see this interview?
Misha: Um (shrugs) I love penises. (smiles) Thank you so much.
Jason: Thank you!
