Sailor Moon Crystal episode 12 was really good! The fact that Crystal has like, properly animated action, is really helping to make the epic finale feel, well, more epic. Usagi using the sword to take out Beryl is cool, and it’s an interesting contrast from the Galaxia fight from the end of Sailor Stars where Usagi obviously refused to use that sword, but here like, she can use the sword specifically to free Beryl from Metalia, and yeah she dies in the process but, eh, unforeseen consequences. And then the Inner Soldiers and their battle with the Four Kings is pretty neato, it sucks that Metalia immediately kills them afterwards but I think the Four Kings are much better final bosses for the Inner Soldiers than the D Girls or whatever they were called, plus since our girls don’t all just die here because, yeah, it doesn’t feel as much like some fake tragedy. Instead we see tragedy in the form of Usagi feeling like she can’t restore Mamoru to his true self and using that sword to kill him and then herself, which is actually fucking tragic and caught me way more off guard than the Inner Soldier’s sacrifice in the 90s anime. Scene was just great, really. Obviously I know Usagi and Mamoru will be fine but like, hey this is still way cooler anyway. And likewise with the Four Kings being better final bosses for the Inner Soldiers, I appreciate how much of a final boss feel Mamoru has here, classic “two main heroes forced to fight” type vibe. I also appreciate that the specific hierarchy of the Dark Kingdom, namely that Metalia’s doing all the sauce, makes Metalia feel like a way more impactfully evil force than she was in the 90s show, and makes the Four Kings + Beryl feel sympathetic by extension. Crystal’s just doing a really great job making these finales feel big and important. And I love that.
Dorohedoro episode 2 was eh. Glad this show’s got comedy, despite its very dark world design and all the gore and stuff it still understands the inherent silliness of a dude with a lizard head so it’s not gonna be too edgy. At the same time though I feel this show moves way too quickly and nothing about it at this point is really what I’d call “for me”. I’ll keep watching still but idk if I’ll manage beyond the 3 episode rule

So there's gonna be Sonic related news on the 20th of every month all year, which is pretty exciting. For today it was just official wallpapers and icons but maybe down the line we'll get sicker shit.
