#19.02.16

Teaching is great. It is rewarding. It is satisfying.  It is stressful. It is exhausting. It makes me cry.  I love it. 

I hate the feeling of standing in front of a group of kids that very much do not want to be at school, but I also love the feeling of standing in front of a group of kids knowing that you could be that one teacher that makes a difference in their precious lives. 

And I love the smell of chalkboard chalk despite the fact that it makes me sneeze like crazy. And I love the fact that I could have my own classroom that I will decorate with Star Wars and Studio Ghibli posters. And I love that students can come in and be willing to tell me about their dreams and aspirations. And I love that I can have the opportunity to teach these teenagers about empathy and identity: to teach them that everyone is important and just because someone is a different sex, race, gender, or suffers from different issues from you doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be represented of understood. I love that I can teach about empathy and love because more people need to be taught to love everyone, not just the people that are the same as you.
