18th January 1920 - England. The 1st Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment was part of 7th Infantry Brigade based at Tidworth. In early January they received orders to deploy to Silesia. Advance parties left Tidworth on 18th and 23rd January. 8th March 1801 Sir Ralph Abercromby landed his forces at Aboukir Bay, Egypt. The 18th Foot was n Cradocks Second Brigade along with the 8th Foot, 13th Foot and 90th Foot. The 18th was quite understrength with 523 Officers and Men.
