It’s all Steve has ever wanted to hear since he was that way too little punk in Brooklyn who’d fallen head over heels in love with his best friend. His heart flutters in his chest and his stomach does flips and suddenly it’s like he’s right back there when they were young and had no worries (mostly, Steve was still pretty sick).

You’re not a machine or some thing.

Sometimes, he sure as hell feels like it. There’s a lot of self-doubt and self-hatred swimming around in that fucked up mind of his. He’s often viewed himself as some thing instead of a person. A thing that heals too fast for his liking and can’t die (no matter how many times he’s tried himself). He’s the merc with a mouth but he’s also something completely inhuman.

But Bucky sees past that, sees the human he is, instead of how inhuman and mutant he is. He wants to make some wise crack but for once, Deadpool is stunned into silence. Not many people can say they can do that.

“What do ya know? You don’t know me.” Instantly Harley’s defense is up. Ever since the Joker, she’s been like that with men. Every man out there is out to hurt women, in her eyes, and she wants nothing to do with them. This guy before her seems to be kind, sure, but can she trust him?

It’s true. He feels invisible most of the time. It’s not like he’s the most popular kid on the college campus. Most of the time, he’s with his science or his camera and people don’t seem to care about the nerds.  The only time he feels truly seen is when he is Spiderman.

Does Bucky even know he’s spiderman?

It’s a sweet sentiment but he’s not going to get by with it, not if Diana has any say in it. She shakes her head back and forth, moving closer to him as enemies surround them. There’s at least five of them - out to get both Wonder Woman and The Winter Soldier. One of them comments about a price being on their head.

Seriously? They’re being hunted now? Do they not realize they’re dealing with a demi-goddess and an enhanced super soldier? It’s almost laughable. She would laugh if this wasn’t so serious.

Eddie’s gaze softens at the other man’s words - he has never once thought about Bucky as a monster. Dangerous? Sure. A danger to him or Venom? Never. Nevermind the fact Venom would tear him apart but Eddie doesn’t think it’d ever get that way because Bucky cares about him, he’s not some monster, and Eddie cares about him too. “Hey, don’t talk about yourself like that. You’re not a monster.”

Venom decides to make himself known, too, black tendrils appearing from Eddie’s form to form into a blob with razer sharp teeth and white pupilless eyes. The creature moves forward to bump his head against Bucky’s shoulder in an attempt to comfort him and soon, he is speaking up.
