“.....I’ve been waiting to hear that for a long time, Buck.” Steve gives him a small smile and he wants to reach out, touch his cheek, or kiss him but he won’t. He respects Bucky’s boundaries too much for that and he knows the man is traumatized, has no idea what happened to him, he won’t risk triggering him. “I love you too. Always have. Ever since I was just some skinny punk.”

“Sorry, pal, guess you’re not alone anymore.” Steve says as he slides into a stool beside Scott. He can’t drink himself, does nothing for him, but at the very least - he can be a friend for Scott. Looks like he might need one. “If you wanna talk, I’m all ears. I’m told it helps to get it all out.”

It’s TRUE - there are some things that Steve will NEVER understand but that doesn’t mean he won’t try to understand be there for his best friend. The things Bucky has had to go through, HE CAN’T EVEN IMAGINE, but he hopes that Bucky knows he can talk to him. “I know I don’t and I never will, Buck, but you can talk to me, alright? Always. You don’t have to but I just want you to know that you can.”

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were trying to seduce me.” Steve breathes out in a breathless voice before he’s standing up to turn around and face Bucky. “It’s working, by the way.” He adds before his lips are pressing against Bucky’s.

It makes him SMILE because he likes being that for her. The safety that Zelda DESERVES. The home that she deserves. That’s new to him, he doesn’t think he’s ever heard anyone call him home. It’s a nice feeling and he appreciates her telling him. He, too, feels at home when he’s with her. “Good, I don’t want you to ever feel anything else when you’re with me. You’re home to me, too, by the way.”

“Just some stranger who didn’t want to keep his hands to himself.” Yes, even as Captain America, Steve is still starting fights - still standing up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. This time it had been a woman who wanted nothing to do with this man and he kept trying to drag her off - well, that didn’t fly with Steve. He can still taste the blood in his mouth but it’s worth it. That guy won’t be messing with that poor woman again. Not after having his ass kicked by Captain America.
