A bit embarrassing in the end, but we may have figured out the heart palpitations.
Dehydration. 🤦🏻♀️
I’ve had trouble drinking enough this whole pregnancy, both because plain water has been unappealing and because I typically drink black tea in the morning but can’t drink it when hungry and I’m always hungry so it takes forever to drink.
One of the suggestions of my midwife on Tuesday was to make sure I was hydrating enough, so I started really really focusing on it yesterday...and I haven’t had any palpitations since.
I’m also avoiding caffeine for now and anything super sugary, because my mom has a history of high sensitivity to caffeine (including palpitations), and the other day the palpitations got worse after I ate a bunch of chocolate chips. I did thyroid labs yesterday and they were “normal” but maybe a tad high for me personally. But if anything I think these are all likely to be aggravating factors rather than the root cause. Hoping if I can just keep hydrating well I won’t have any more issues and won’t need to use the cardiologist referral the midwife put in.
