The Global 16 Days Campaign is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls. The campaign runs every year from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. Why is activism 16 days orange? For its 16 Days of Activism Soroptimist International of Europe will use the colour orange to signalise our outrage at violence directed towards women and girls and our hope for a better future. Among other things, we will“orange” our website and post a unique SIE calendar with pertinent messages, facts and figures. What is the main purpose of 16 Days of Activism? 1 in 3 women have experienced sexual/physical (and this is not even talking about psychological) violence WORLDWIDE, mostly by an intimate partner!!!! How is this something so common, how is this normal, how is this still our world??? (yet some people have the audacity to say we don't need feminisim today or in western countries lol 🙄) This is is an extremely important subject & very close/dear to my heart, it probably had or will concern you or a woman you know and we can't just look away and stay silent! We have to speak up, report and stop stigmatizing -and even worse: normalizing- violence against women so the victims will feel strong enough to leave and/or speak openly about it without ever feeling shame & guilt! This is NEVER ok, not a big deal, deserved or the victim's fault!
