Excerpt: The first time Professor Khushrenada came to Po’s Pub, Heero wasn’t sure if the man recognized him. It was early October, Week 3, which meant the first round of midterms. He’d just sat for his Intro to Philosophy midterm that afternoon before coming on shift.

"Do you have anything local on tap?” the professor asked.

In the two months Heero had been bartending, he’d come to love and hate that question. He loved that Po’s Pub supported local breweries, that eight or nine of the twelve taps at the pub were always given over to local brews. But people who asked that question came in two flavors: people who genuinely liked the variety that came with supporting local, and people who liked the cache they thought they earned by avoiding major labels.

“We have eight local beers today. What types of beer do you usually enjoy?”
