tell me we’ll never get used to it

Is this something that is specific to supernatural? Did supernatural just kick it up a notch? Or is this just how your brain works?

Also on a related note, are you keeping note somewhere? I feel like every time you chime in with something it gets me thinking, and I just want to chew on it.

Aww thank you! Hmm now that I think about it, I think it's just how my brain works (English was always my favorite class; I love literary analysis and when I was younger, I wanted to be an English major, but I was told "WriTiNg dOesN't pAy thE BiLls" one too many times as a kid so I went a different route in college. I still love what I do now and I don't regret my degree itself, but I think if I could do things over again I would've double majored in English or Film or something. Nothing pays the bills these days so may as well be the happiest you can be about what you study lmao). That said, since SPN is my main fandom (or I guess what others might call a special interest or hyperfixation), I think SPN just kicked it up a notch since I think about it all the time. I rewatch SPN at least once per year, and I sometimes take notes when I watch but they're not centralized since my initial phone note usually gets too long, so I have several on my phone. I have some half-hearted google docs where I've tried grouping some of my thoughts together and where I keep notes on external references and research that I link to SPN, and I have a vault on Obsidian (an offline note taking application that uses Markdown text, where you can create 'nodes' for topics and link them back to each other) where I track the current things I read and watch, write about the themes and things I liked/didn't like about them, and then sometimes link them back to SPN. I also have this weird collage/powerpoint thing on Canva where I started trying to color code motifs/themes through parallels in language in SPN as I noticed them, with screenshots of the scripts/show dialogue, but it wasn't a fast enough process or a big enough screen to try keeping up with, and I also didn't know if it would make sense to anyone else if I tried sharing it. E.g.:

Idk if the text is visible enough (if you want more from this slide I can try typing it out and verbalizing it better) but this is the last slide I tried organizing, a lot of which is just me talking to myself. I'd noticed that 'gnat' parallel in the language from these two eps during a rewatch and color-coded the similarities: -yellow for gnat/in one's head -blue for wants -green for control/quiet/suppression -pinkish for memory and a specific repeated phrase (those were the two instances I remembered, though I'm sure it happens again bc memory--both the loss of it and how it is manipulated by cosmic forces and how memory IS the afterlife--is such a big part of SPN) And then started trying to organize my thoughts around the two scenes and related scenes. As I wrote one observation, more thoughts from other eps would pop up, so this limited screen space was frustrating and I haven't found anything that I like that I could work with in the same way yet.
