Outrun the storms.

So I am stuck in a pickle. I have an '85 rx-7 and am doing an engine swap this winter. I am just confused on which engine to put in. But first, I want to explain the car and what I will be doing with it first. It will be my daily driver, it will have an old Japanese look in the end, it will be autocrossed, road raced, and drifted, I may or may not take it on long road trips, and it will be used as a cruise car. So now here's the thing, my Dad is very very very knowledgeable with Chevy V8s and could help me get it going with a 5.3L aluminum block engine quickly, but at the same time, I am thinking of doing a 13b-t engine from an S5 FC. But here's the thing, the rotary won't get very good gas mileage, it won't be as fast, and it won't be as reliable. The 5.3L will get very good mileage, very fast, and very very reliable. So, what do you all think? What should I do? Go the faster, gas saving, more reliable way? Or the Japanese, slower, gas sucking, less reliable way?
