i am once again talking about 'the 13 treasures' by michelle harrison. trying to be spoiler free because i want people who read my blog to get into them too. short summary - they're about a girl called tanya who can see faeries and i'm not talking about the rainbow magic ones if you catch what i'm throwing ya.
short thoughts:
the whole red/eldritch storyline still spins me to this day. gredin is black, you can't change my mind. warwick was entirely too focused on literally everyone else instead of his son. fabian is literally the walking definition of 'why am i the last to know.' feathercap referring to himself as 'feathercap' to tanya's mum in 'one wish' and thinking it was a perfectly normal thing to do is hilarious. if you haven't listened to nicky diss' narration of these books what are you doing with your life? florence was a bit too good at being a bitch in the first book. gredin's powers are highkey terrifying. i want to square up with tino. turpin is an icon. tanya was too iconic in 'one wish' i fear. the faery realm sounds like hell on earth. fck the gavern. shoutout to the mitzhog. snip snip. oh snip snip! tanya was playing with GOD with 'thingy.' don hanratty has way too much sauce. nessie needleteeth was too intense my heart was beating so fast.
real talk, these books are so good. the characters are amazing and i can't recommend them enough.
the 13 treasures series is... surprisingly dark? which i only now realise, rereading it, and damn how is some of this shit considered a children's book??? just because it has fairies??? excuse me have you seen the gore descriptions in the 13 secrets
also this is such a small fandom. why.
Does anyone else remember these books???? Like these were my shit and I'm just getting back into them
July: Mystical
13 Treasures, 13 Curses, and 13 Secrets by Michelle Harrison (One Wish is supposed to be a prequel to 13 Treasures if you’d like to read it beforehand, but you can read it before or after the series. Either way, it won’t affect the story line.)
WARNING: I did get pretty scared while reading this book from all the suspense and its dark theme. Even my mom, during the series, locked the windows and doors every night. If that might bother you in any way, I don’t know how much you’ll enjoy this book. Just keep that in mind if you have any problems with either of those things.
Magic Knight Rayearth 1-2 by Clamp
Cardcaptor Sakura by Clamp (Don’t read Clear Card first! Clear Card takes place after Omnibus.)
Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya (The only thing I really remember from this series was how emotionally draining it might get at times and that I cried at some points. Just a heads up!)

June 4th: Number: The Hundred Dresses, 13 Treasures, 13 Curses, and 13 Secrets
The number 13 may have unlucky connotations, but I always interpreted it as too much baggage to keep track of, but these books about spiteful fairies and really twisted plot points kept my interest throughout. And The Hundred Dresses is a classic, and had to be included.
this is a literary beacon to anyone who has read the 13 treasures book series by michelle harrison! this ecompasses the first book, the 13 curses, the 13 secrets and the prequel one wish! i love those books and i hope to find more fans here!!!
