Hello Seahawks, my old friend(s)
Given the injuries the Colts currently have I didn’t expect them to score as many points as they did. Especially playing in the Clink. Again, that was all in the first half fog I’m trying to forget about. 48-18 is a rather impressive score, if I do say so myself.
I’m debating skipping over the first half of the game since once again, I don’t think we did anything to write home about… or blog about.
Actually, let me just say this… BLAIR WALSH? I’m 100,000% sure that the first preseason game, they hung out with Blair Walsh because so many people (me) remembered that failed field goal attempt against the Seahawks when he was still in Minnesota, and he gave us the game. I’m convinced they were trying to get us to like him. He might be a nice person but some things I just can’t get over. Like his accuracy. I’m not saying I can do any better (actually maybe 4th or 5th grade me who was the school rep for the Punt, Pass and Kick could do better, but I digress) but this guy needs to figure some things out. Specifically, how to be more accurate in his kicking… since that’s his job.
I don’t know what it is… but every time I start to trash the Seahawks on Twitter, they start playing better. I don’t mean to do it but somehow it happens. If that is what it takes, I guess I’ll keep doing it for the sake of my team.
Quarter 3… The Seahawks finally showed up to play the game. And how impressive was that quarter? Bobby Wagner is bound to be a legend. BOUND TO BE A LEGEND. I don’t think a game goes by where I don’t say how impressed with Bobby Wagner I am. Even when we lose, there is something Bobby Wagner did that stands out to me. But like low-key he could just be on the sidelines breathing and I would be like, “YES! Look at you go! You go Bobby Wagner! You breathe!” I don’t want to sound too clingy, but I love him.
It was nice to see the Seahawks actually use Jimmy Graham in the second half of the game. Let me just tell you, I absolutely talked in the first half of how they need to figure out how they are going to utilize him (honestly, I talked to my dog, River but still I talked about it). To see him actually out there, open, catching the ball, making plays… it was a great moment in my couch coaching career.
There is something magical about Russell Wilson. He is almost at unicorn status in the NFL. They always comment on his height, his sacks, and the interceptions, but he still manages to be one of the best. The combination of Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin… now THAT is like a Pegasus. Even more magical than a Unicorn. It is a truly amazing duo that works so great together if they ever separated, I don’t know how I would go on. I am not trying to sound dramatic but I would probably cry for a good week. Or two… or couldn’t go on.
The thing about this game, and even the last half of the last game against Tennessee, we need to start playing the entire game like we play the second half. In the second half we are strong, we are unstoppable, we rally, we get hurt and bounce back. We are the underdogs trying to fight as hard as possible to keep our name in the game. We are the champions who play like we have something to prove, we play like it is our only goal in life to play the hardest we possibly can play and to win the game. We need that mentality for the entire game, not just the second half.
Boom for Thought: Play the entire game like you mean it. You are all so talented but keep making rookie mistakes… actually the rookies aren’t even making that many mistakes. It is time to be one team. One team, one goal, only one way to get there. Now go out there and give it your all, make your (couch) coach proud. We’re all rooting for you.
This week’s MVP (in my mind): Chris Carson – hoping for a speedy recovery on what looked like one paaaaiiiinnnnful break.
