How funny is that left-hand ultrasound photo? It’s the baby yawning, facing us, which is cute, but it looks so creepy. 😂

My parents came up to stay with pep while B and I went to the ultrasound appointment. Throughout my entire pregnancy with pep I wasn’t able to bring anyone with me to the ultrasounds, and now I’m able to bring one adult, but they won’t let pep in, so we need someone to watch him if B wants to come. Such a pain, when our family lives two hours away, but I was so grateful they happily agreed to come up so B could experience his first ultrasound with me. It was really cute — he was amazed to see the baby wiggling around and kicking, and loved getting to see the heart and the brain.

I knew they would also do blood work, but it was a complete surprise to me that since I was pregnant with pep, NIPT has become universally covered by insurance for everyone. So awesome! It used to be only if you were 35+ or had other indications of a genetic issue with the baby, but not anymore. Because of that, I’m getting NIPT and should have the results within 5 days.. including sex! I can’t believe it we’ll know the sex of the baby, like, next week. I was expecting to have to wait til the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I’m excited but also pretty nervous, for some reason? We’re both hoping for a girl, but of course will be happy as long as the little one is healthy.
