Onyx’s pronouns typically change between whatever gender they’re representing that day. As they’re not tied to a mortal flesh they can easily transform their body to the gender representation of their choosing
Onyx loves birds, one reason they become so attached to Amara is because they’ve always had a strong connection to them, they used to often feed the local park pigeons and crows on Sunday afternoons before their death
Onyx’s death was violent, and traumatic, their spirit stayed behind because before the elf passed they had no idea who they were or what they even desired in life, feeling incomplete, unfinished and unsatisfied. So long as Onyx never finds the answers to these questions, they’re stuck on the mortal plane for the rest of eternity.
Normally, Onyx can’t really be bothered for sex, or sexual attractions since they’re dead and have no real blood flow, but upon connecting with Zeroh, and being exposed to his sneezes, they find themselves feeling sexual attraction again.

Backstory —
Onyx was born to a teen mom, Lorna Mintz Fitzgerald (Mintz was her maiden name and the surname she gave Onyx) in 1913. One of several women in her decade to be “sold” off, to her own father’s best friend. She was 16 and the man was 37. Forced to wed and carry his spawn before he was shipped off to the war, a slight bright side to Lorna’s new, forced life. They lived a rather comfortable existence, everything paid for through her husband’s services in the military. She and Onyx were close, and despite her young age, she was an attentive and loving mother. Supportive. They were best friends even into his young adulthood, where things started to get muddy. Onyx loved gender expression, they would often dress up in their mother’s clothes and use her makeup and go out on the town with their friends in such attire. Lorna never wavered. With all the love she had in the world, it went to Onyx, and home was always a safe place. Only a mere two weeks after Onyx’s 18th birthday, he was on his way home after having been out drinking with friends, dressed rather flamboyantly that night. Inhibitions out the window, the sense of self preservation burnt to a crisp, didn’t even register for a moment they’d been followed home. *TRIGGER WARNING* what proceeded that night was a series of horrific events after another. After the group of men broke in after Onyx, they tied them up and made him witness horrific things being done to his mother, only to switch her places and be forced to watch as they did the same to Onyx but instead in a string of slurs and violent assaults, murdered the young elf in cold blood to punish her for allowing Onyx to experiment with gender and sexuality. For trying to give them the space to discover who they were. She tried, and after they left, after Onyx’s death, she locked herself away in that house. She made attempt after attempt to communicate with the lost soul of her child that she knew wandered the walls of their domicile. She pleaded with the gods, tried to beg the devils, but Onyx was always there to make sure his mother /lived/. Ignoring her pleas, her calls, her cries. If she knew he was there, if she knew she could be with him, so he wasn’t alone, she would. So he stayed there with a metaphorical brick wall between him and his best friend, until one night, when she turned 93, a very tall, interesting looking man entered their home. Shyly, Onyx had watched from the shadows though immediately seen by the raven he arrived with. It was when the tall man reached to place a hand upon her that Onyx cried out to him. Pleading with him to stop but Zeroh explained, it was simply her time. Understanding immediately the weight of the situation, Zeroh thought it may help Onyx pass over if they came with Lorna and him, to the light. So, they all went together. And Lorna held her child for the last time, apologized for not protecting him, and was able to pass peacefully through the veil, but still Onyx stayed behind. “Please, don’t make me go back there alone…” the ghost begged of the reaper, who eventually sighed and nodded. Accepting their new journey together.
Distinguishing Marks or Characteristics: A black “mask” type tattoo around his eyes, three straight lines between his bottom lip and chin, both eyes have a vertical line from his hairline to his eyelids, both hands are pitch black (blighted) and dark bruise-like marks fade up to his shoulders. Usually wears leather gloves to cover his hands. His throat, shoulders and the joints in his arms and legs all have dark scars (think where jointed dolls have their joints), three ring clacker in his septum, plus various other facial piercings

Greatest Strength: His empathy. He loves animals and goes out of his way to make others feel accepted.
Greatest Weakness: His empathy. Often times he absorbs too much of everyone else’s moods and energy and will fall into a depression.
Soft Spot: Onyx
Mannerisms: horrible about making ill-timed, corny jokes whenever there’s tension around. One of those people who greatly overshares and trauma dumps without realizing. Because he’s a reaper and sees death constantly, he’s completely desensitized towards it, often resulting in comments/work stories that make others uncomfortable.
Miscellaneous Trivia —
Always has what appears to be the spirit of a Raven that flies around him or sits on his head/shoulder. She can dematerialize to be invisible, although she can be heard through the veil. actually a spirit who’s wandered earth, lost for so long their soul had deteriorated substantially and they are only able to materialize a small portion of their original form, unable to pass through the realms to reach thier afterlife. They choose to take the form of a semi translucent raven and has been with Zeroh for as long as he’s been a reaper.
He died at the age of 27 by drowning, and even as an immortal he still tends to get anxiety around bodies of water.
Because it’s crafted by shadoweavers*, his scythe can be transferred through the veil whenever it’s not in use, making it disappear, and can be retrieved again from anywhere whenever it’s needed.
* Kriia’s clan crafted his scythe, where he met and became close friends with her, Blythe and Freya.

How severe are they?
Extreme. Even though he’s allergic, whenever called to a soul in need of escort and it happens to be an animal he’s allergic to, he still will treat it as he does the rest, often times holding the animal to his chest as he walks to their destination.
Do they get sick often?
Doesn’t typically get sick because of his lack of a beating heart, therefore a nonexistent immune system, although it’s not impossible.
How bad is it usually?
Although it only ever lasts a day at most, it’s almost always severe, and when it’s at its worst, his skin can leak black ooze, and passing through the veil isn’t possible until his health is restored.
Do they stifle?
Sometimes, but it isn’t a regular occurrence.
How loud are their sneezes?
Usually they’re more harsh sounding than loud sneezes if they’re from his allergies, but sneezes from an illness can become extremely loud, often causing Amara to hide in the veil to protect herself.

Often his hands. If he’s wearing his cloak, he sometimes uses fabric of the sleeves and/or collar.
How often do they sneeze?
Often. With the number of reapers dwindling and Alistar’s laziness quickly increasing, his case load is extremely full. There’s only 3 reapers in a 100 mile radius, meaning he often came in contact with animals he’s allergic to, as well as teleporting home which also causes him to sneeze.

2-3 in a fit is pretty typical, although sometimes he’ll get stuck in a drawn out fit of 6-10 over a 10 minute span.

Drawn out fits can have build ups, otherwise they’re pretty sudden.

He doesn’t like a ton of attention, but he’s very unskilled at holding back so he just accepts it. Gotta do what’cha gotta do, right?

Backstory —
Zeroh Osiris was born in a nameless slum in Anseyn, the product of hardship and neglect. With no family to depend on and a bleak future ahead, Zeroh learned to survive the only way he could: by lying, stealing, and manipulating. He became a consummate thief and con artist, his quick wit and silver tongue enabling him to climb from abject poverty into a life of fleeting comfort. He thrived in the shadows, taking from anyone who let their guard down, whether they were rich merchants, desperate beggars, or unsuspecting travelers.
For Zeroh, morality was a luxury he couldn’t afford. People were tools to be used, and he wielded charm and deceit like a finely honed blade. By his mid-twenties, Zeroh had left a trail of ruined lives and broken trusts, accumulating wealth and notoriety. Despite his success, he remained unfulfilled, his days blending together in a haze of indulgence and evasion. He found no solace in friendships or companionships, viewing them as liabilities rather than meaningful connections.
Zeroh’s luck ran out during a high-stakes scam involving a nobleman’s priceless artifact. While attempting to escape by boat, a violent storm capsized the vessel. Zeroh was thrown into the icy waters and dragged under by the weight of his stolen treasures. Alone and drowning, he was consumed by panic, his life flashing before his eyes. In those final moments, he realized how hollow his existence had been—defined by greed and selfishness. When Zeroh’s lungs gave out and his body succumbed to the depths, his soul was dragged into the underworld, Gehenna.
