i know artists mean well, but “just practice” is the most unhelpful advice ever - a lot of young/new artists know they should be practicing, but they don’t know how to address specific problems they’re having. art is an acquired set of skills all working in combination, and specific troubleshooting is needed. i think creative ways to practice should be encouraged, for example:
having trouble mixing colours? grab a bunch of paint swatches from your local DIY store and practice matching them, see if you can make a good palette and use all your colours in one image.
having trouble with anatomy? churn out hundreds of bad sketches, copy fun poses from magazines, take photos of yourself, quickly sketch down people walking by before they’re out of your sight.
having trouble with your perspective? lie down on the floor and take photos from that level, trace the lines, reference them. disconnect what you see from what you know, and only draw what you can see. observation is an important skill.
draw from life and from photographs, things that move and things that don’t, try to capture that energy, from memory and from reference, make it up as you go along, but most importantly, keep practicing.
