[witch hunt - 4.06]
On a spn destiel rewatch fest:
Rewatching 04x06 for the maybe 25th time, I realised how courteous Dean is to Castiel, in comparison to Uriel. When Uriel and Castiel were telling Dean and Sam to get out of the town because they intend on smiting the town to prevent the rise of Samhain and of course, Dean and Sam will not allow it. Dean found the angels’ decision extremely unnecessary and was angry about it. Dean fired a lot at Uriel, but was appealing to Castiel to give him and Sam more time. Now maybe you could say that Dean was more familiar with Castiel since that was the first time he met Uriel. But that would just be Dean’s third face to face encounter with Castiel, and Dean hasn’t exactly got “comfortable” with him at all. What I am trying to get at is that the idea of Dean attempting to appeal to Castiel, to be agreeable with Dean’s decision always made me feel that from the beginning Dean seem to harbour a soft spot for Castiel. :’) At the end of 04x06, when Castiel appear and sat beside Dean (on a separate bench) and they talk for a bit, Dean told Castiel that he was not interested if Castiel was going to be giving his two cents about what went down with Samhain. I think that in this scene Dean kinda felt like he let Castiel down since Dean and Sam failed to prevent the rise of Samhain which was one of the 66 seals of apocalypse. Dean has always been someone who will always be conscious of his decision because he wants to do good, ultimately he wants to make the world a better place, but string this with that of how he approaches Castiel at the end of the episode. Dean kind of heave a relief when he heard that the angels’ order was to obey Dean’s decision IN ADDITION to Castiel’s support for Dean’s decision. You could say that perhaps Dean was relieve of judgement from Heaven, God, the angels, but I believe that Dean knowing that Castiel supports his decision is important and it made a difference to how Dean felt at the beginning/middle of the episode vs the end of the episode. I believe this was how it all begun, how Cas slowly worms into Dean’s heart. And that MY FRIENDS was how how I fell into the abyss of destiel :) Thank you for joining me! See ya next time!
