There has been a terrorist attack in my hometown, Vienna, last night.
I never thought something like this could happen. I always assumed our country is too small, too safe, too neutral.
I waited for two hours yesterday to hear back from all of my friends and family, fearing for their lives.
4 people have been confirmed dead. 22 injured. The shooter has been shot by the police, but one more suspect has not been caught yet.
I still cannot believe something like this could happen. I’m terrified.
Please, if you can, think of us today and keep us in your Hearts. If you’re religious pray for us, if not wish us luck to be able to survive this shock.
as expected there are plenty of racist assholes who try to use this situation to spew hatred against muslims. but I'm glad that the the majority of reactions I've witnessed are ones of support and solidarity. we won't let this divide us because that's exactly what the assholes want, both the racist right wing Austrian assholes, and the IS assholes.
