Summary:
The Intelligence Services Family Support Foundation was the organisation that worked to meet those needs for families across the services, and its annual fundraiser was only two weeks away. The reception cum talent show was an odd but popular event that brought in a lot of money.
At 500 quid just to get in the door, patrons of the foundation enjoyed an evening of drinks and hearty nibbles before enjoying the talents of intelligence officers and support personnel throughout the services. The evening was capped off with a silent auction for donated swag, the bidding on which could sometimes go into the thousands of pounds.
Those who attended the gala – politicians, celebrities, sports figures, authors, artists, and other Londoners of note – gave generously but expected to be well entertained for their philanthropism.
