hi hello consider; benrey shapeshifts to look like he did when he n gordon first met, n k!gordon goes "OH you ARE benrey sorry-"
It takes a while, but everything finally clicks for Benrey when he realizes that K!Gordosâ âImaginary friendâ is actually them thanks to a couple of stories told here and there and crayon drawings. [A reason for why it took a while to jog their memory, is time as it works differently on Xen compared to Earth; as for Gordon, it felt like only a couple of years have passed, but to Benrey maybe it felt like a century or even millennia.]
Eventually, Benrey does shapeshift and surprises K!Gordon to which he simply just stares in a mixture of shock and awe, even dropping whatever he had in his hand. The staring seemed to go on for what seemed to be several minutes, however before Benrey could panic,fearing that they may be broke K!Gordon, they immediately get tackled to the floor in a hug, tears nâ all:
As K!Gordon is not only bawling their eyes out due to pure joy, knowing that Benreyâs back, but also due to being distressed, constantly asking Benrey why did they leave in the first place and if it was because of him, and if they were ever going to leave again without telling him. With that Benrey shape-shifts back to normal in order to comfort and console K!Gordos better and explains everything: no they didnât leave because of them, it was due to them being inexperienced with their powers [as no matter how hard they tried, they just couldnât teleport back to the right time, right place], and no they werenât going to vanish again without telling him beforehand.
And of course, after hearing this, K!Gordon made Benrey pinky-promise on their words, which they gladly do :)
[Side note; there is still a slight possibility that K!Gordon could have been a little stubborn and still deny the fact that Benrey is well âBenreyâ even if the proof is staring him right in the face: âYou canât just shapeshift into them!â "...I AM THEM?!-"]
