Eve's little sister Robin is such a fun idea especially with all the contrast between them. Eve growing up in a normal home while Robin lives in the lab until she gets rescued, Eve's powers letting her alter the world around her with pink light while Robin can alter herself with gold laced shadow. Eve the girl who belongs here and her sister who absolutely does not.
I was thinking of Robin's powers and I think it'd be really cool if she got into shape-shifting kinda anamorphs style. She can't hold her human form for long stretches of time so eventually she learns to go with the flow. Instead of fighting to hold herself in shape she lets herself become something new. She starts by shifting herself to look more like Eve but as she gets better and better she learns to become whatever she wants. Some days she turns into a real Robin and flies off wherever she pleases. Other days a fish who can dive down deep enough to meet the depth dwellers. (And if she stays down there long enough to learn their songs who's business is that but hers) when Eve is doing hero work she'll fly alongside her then drop down onto their villains in the form of a lion or a bear. On slow days she'll be something small and ride around on Eve's shoulder. The two go everywhere together â¤ď¸. Sometimes Robin will start the night in one form and wake up in another. Eve doesn't mind although it was quite a shock that first time she woke up with a 15 foot anaconda wrapped around her. After the initial panic she recognized Robin and settled right down. Her poor little sister was probably just seeking warmth like always. Eve can always recognize Robin, at first it was because no matter what form Robin is in she can never really change her eye colors but once Robin learned to become an eyeless cave fish Eve adapted by learning to sense Robin's strange unique atoms. When Eve joins the teen team Robin joins as well. Everyone knows those two are a hero duo after all. Do not separate.
What's Robin's relationship with Rex like? I bet he'd end up somewhat protective if her in a well meaning but slightly patronizing big brother sort of way. He probably chases off any boy who tries to talk to Robin because don't you know Robbie all men are trash. Good luck to Mark if he gets a crush on Robin in this au because Rex will make it a whole thing. Turning up the mocking to eleven and putting himself between them whenever Mark tries to talk to her. He only freaks out a little when he finds out Mark is omni man's son.

I've actually been chatting to my fave enabler about this and thus arrived at- Globin.
aka so you start with the baseline of what canon gives us for the Eve's siblings; they can do what Eve can't which is affecting/changing their own bodies. But they're failed experiments and that makes them delicate - sooo the idea with Robin is she has the time/Robin Effect to sloooowly improve at it. Until you have a mix of Elastagirl, Prototype's Alex Mercer, and the goopier physical powers of Robins like wife guy Sinister.
First stage is her in that snippet, where she's really just improving at holding a 'base form' but is always gonna be prone to a melty effect in certain moments - exhaustion, being overwhelmed, or even just when she feels more relaxed.
Then that moves into more active combat applications. Already has a level of inhuman durability once can confidently restructure, which naturally follows into strength/speed buffs, and all the various alterations to toughen up or do temp stuff like idk turn her arm into a blade.
The more glob side comes in with active control over her form. So I figure she'll generally try to maintain a minimum mass, since otherwise it's a loooot harder to get back to baseline. Some overlap with Shapesmith there, but with the added element of being able to change the 'materials' of her body/absorb stuff in to a limited extent.
(...ie catch this girl walking around with a cooler inside her chest and handing out cans on the beach)(and a lollipop jar. She's very popular with kids and has to set an example)
A lot of it comes down to complexity - ie functioning animal bodies would likely be too much, but a shadow puppet approximation of what's almost an uncanny version of some animals? Could be doable. And minor traits like gills/claws are more workable.
'liquid shadow' being a big theme overall, tho likely develops own armoured up form for types of combat. I can see her functioning as a 'match up to whoever she's supporting' in most fights - and often a bullet sponge when it comes to the Teen Team members. Once she figures out how to switch pain off so Eve doesn't fuss over her as much
(I lie: Eve is extremely protective of her sister. Not helped by the form-issues extending to Robin's brain - making her pretty oblivious - and she doesn't even remember the Invincible plotline or a lot of her life, just gets strong deja vu and flashes)
Her relationship with Rex is very much like. He's the one person Eve won't maim for calling Robin 'freaky' and it's only because Robin finds him funny and deliberately tries to make him uncomfy.
Dude is all "ewww no get away you're so gooey today stop IT-" Robin flops onto him in full sticking inky goop mode with big gold eyes "...i loathe you"
(clearly does not loathe her)
To make it more 'palatable' Robin also starts up like. yknow how she gets flesh gooey? She makes it turn black in colour/has that and the gold as her main colours as a hero, because it looks less gross than meat-coloured (and ofc she doesn't know why these colours feel so natural).
Being tired after a fight and just melding her arms around Eve's neck to play cape while she dozes off...Cutest horror terror in the city by a mile
Lol the idea was also for a more extended season 1 timeline to give chance for a crush to simmer up (and denial. a lot of it). My gift to Mark as always: the weirdest fucking crises to deal with.
Beach episode and he's stuttering through an offer to help Robin with sunscreen. Robin, currently covered up the most modestly (because it's easier for her/avoid grossing people out), in a swimsuit, slightly sheer overdress thingy, and big sunhat with a black bow - incapable of getting sunburn. Robin also with a +50 to obliviousness because uh who'd crush on a gross thing like her? (and her wonky brain not helping)
Wait i forgot to mention their meet cute!
We're going trooopey - Robin, being Robin, still a comic book nerd so. Goes to a comic store in a face mask and big hoodie, so for a few months before Mark gets his powers, they already semi know each other in that "strangers who go to the same spot and maybe recommend comics to each other sometimes/she'll listen to him ramble about Seance Dog and pipe up with her own thoughts because 'something about it felt familiar'" way.
Which then makes Eve a looot more sus of Mark when he recognises Robin-
And also Robin might go to the same school by senior year, but takes a lot of sick days when she isnt confident can stay human-mode, is very avoidant of non-Eves (and could be a year below) sooo in a big school Mark never connected comic store mystery girl to the other girl often in a face mask.

Although intended to be a relaxing retreat for the hard working members of Panzer, for Malakortana, it provided the perfect opportunity to observe their behaviour in a casual setting. Â Unfortunately, the Sorceress was nowhere to be found.Â
...or was she?
âNow I know she ainât the brightest Goblin in the joint,â remarked Inkeeper Vizzie with a hand cupped to her mouth so as not to be overheard, âbut sheâs quite good at gettinâ ya whatâcha need⌠and in a hurry! We donât call her Gogo fa nothinâ.â
âVery well,â conceded the Dread Father, rather annoyed by the notion he would be spending an entire weekend with those under his employ, but what good was he as a ruler if he didnât lead by example? Somehow he knew this would feel like the longest three days of his un-life.
Knock, knock, knock.
The rapping of tiny fingers was akin to a mothâs wings fluttering against the large wooden door, barely audible, yet to one who basked in complete and utter silence, it might as well have been a battering ram.Â
âEnter,â commanded Pride, and a sigh was quick to follow. Gogo was all too-eager-to-please and he found her cheery disposition nothing short of nauseating.
âHeya Boss, is there anything I can getâchya?â chirped the tiny Goblin while peeking a pair of auburn pigtails just beyond the threshold of the doorway.
âCome inside,â he barked while yanking the curtains closed, âand for the love of all that is unholy, shed that horrid skin and cut the act, will you?â
High pitched laughter ensued before transforming, mid-cackle, into something far more sinister as it dipped an octave.
âOooooh,â crooned the Sorceress, âyou mean to say you donât enjoy my choice in disguise?â
âIâve seen better,â he retorted with his back toward her. If only she could see the wolfish grin peeling his lips away from his gums this very moment. âWhich begs the question of what you did to the real Gogo... dare I even ask?â
âShe is alive and preoccupied. That is all you need to know.â
Eyebrows raised, astonished by the Sorceressâ decision to let her live. Perhaps the Goblinâs only saving grace was her simplicity. âI imagine you have heard about the child by now?â
Malakortana chuckled darkly. âWith ears that large, it is nearly impossible for âGogoâ to have missed it, even if she does possess the intelligence of a squirrel. Shall I âdisposeâ of it?â
âThat wonât be necessary. In all honesty, I am curious as to how this will play out.â
âAnd Duraxxor?â
âHe is yours to command. I imagine you will deal with him in a manner you see fit.â
âAs you wish⌠Lord Pride.â
Shortly thereafter, âGogoâ exited the cabin grumbling to herself all the while. âGogo fetch this⌠Gogo fetch that. Jeez! Even the dead guy who donât eat or sleep wants something. Iâm definitely gonna need a raise afta this.â

--So, I listened to 13 hours of AudioBook Lectures on Anglo-Saxon history/literature/culture driving out to the Poconos last week for a CME dealy (loved the Wilderness Medicine workshop...). Thomas Jefferson featured in the last lecture, dominating most of the discourse on Anglo-American legacy and cultural ID in the 18th century as the U.S. broke from the MutterLund.Â
1) Old English/Anglo-Saxon is beautiful as a spoken language. Welsh/Brythonic holds its own, but I never realized how much Tolkien based Elvish off AS. I thought it was Gaelic spoken in LoTRs, but once hearing AngloSaxon it's hard not to recognize the phonetic nuances...
2) Mostly, I'm intrigued on the crossover of Arthurian mythos into the Dietrich von Bern sagas, and the intriguing Gothic names sprouting up in the Anglo-Saxon-Jute geneologies of the ASChronicles (Like the Bernician Idaâs sons, Theoderic and Athelric being named within a generation after Theodoric and his grandson, Athalaric...I could branch on Eutharicâs name resembling Utherâs as well, but totally tangential, and not really of any significance...) which is why this sudden delving into AS history. Not to mention, it's hard to write something in subRoman Britain w/o getting a balanced picture of the Teutonic elements of colonization upon the British Isles. Really, by the time just preceding Alfred the Great, the intellectual revivalism occurring from Ireland to Northumbria reframes the picture of â'dark agesâ as not so dark really...till the Northmen show up, of course...
3) And of course Jefferson was a Romantic--maybe more a proto-Romantic, but still...somewhere beneath the facade of the philosopher-patriarch existed a man of some kind of passion--head and heart, baby, that's what it's all about...
If anyoneâs wondering how my writingâs doing lately, Iâve just been listening to Bastilleâs âGood Griefâ on a loop all week. Which I realise kinda sums up 2017 as a whole...
